Just download the version 8 file you found on Trimble , open it in Sketchup 8 , goto File>save as> in the bottom of the Save As DBX change the .sketchup models , with the drop down menu to sketchup V7 , ( change file name if wanted ) and now you have the V7 file you need. Nevermind found the file you wanted on Trimble and converted to V7 for you..... ptac_V7.zip PS you cant post .skp file to the forum they have to be "zipped" 1st The Only .skp program is Sketchup from Google , it is now at version 2014...other programs can read .skp though. the new Warehouse should have virus free files be careful where you download other stuff https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/

Yep that is what I see too , I thought they were referring to something else other than the blue and gray bar at the top..... the color options I saw in the Profile are for the Profile only for when other members look at your profile. The only other option I am aware of is the Change theme button in the bottom left corner which allows you to use the Mobile version of the Site which is Black and white ,without the fancy options. M.

Hi Evo , Open the .skp in Sketchup and SAVE AS> version 7 should do it , I use this for a lot of models I find at Trimble as I'm still on '10 like you. M.

you maybe uploading an unsupported file type? , the new forum has a 10mb limit too jpg or png for pics should work the uploader window uses Flash9 apparently so use the basic uploader if you think that might be the issue. and fill in your signature pls.

If the old version does it for you and you don't need/want 2015 , return it,there is a 30 day return guarantee , if you like to play with home design though I can recommend Pro or Arch. depending on budget.<br /><br />M.

It is always better to Post pictures of your Problems , and without knowing What Software you are using , it is hard to say what will help since they all have different features. Perhaps a Terrain hole will work? but don't know what version you have , it may not be available? Try searching the Old Legacy Forum , there maybe ideas there too.... Add your version no# to your profile signature , then you only have to add it once.

Does Suite not allow Printing to Scale either ? In Suite 8 they didn't show you the whole foundation either , thankfully a Chief user did it for me. These days I have Pro ,though 1st I got Arch. to get past the foundation thing , then got Pro cos of the Manual Roof Planes etc.

Elevation Data is setup when you import it , so you need to know what type, the elevation data is before doing so , other wise you'll need to experiment with different options. There is pretty good info Your Reference Manual , for me in Pro it is on page 529, but Option may vary depending on what Version of the HD Software you have. ( the Reference Manual is downloaded separately from the Program, if you don't already have it look at Help>view Ref. Manual, which will download the PDF, don't forget the save it to your Computer once open) M.

I haven't looked into it but I think there are options of some kind for colours in your Profile , (where you fill in your Signature) , but not sure if it effects the forum or just your own profile M. Forgot to mention that I don't see pastel blues or grays in the threads just some buttons , other everything is black text on white background , perhaps post a pic of what you see if what I said earlier doesn't work.

you have to import them as .dae in MAC OS , convert with sketchup if needed...
-
The Mac version uses the .DAE extension instead , which newer versions (after V8?) of Sketchup can also save in .... and the 3d Warehouse has a lot of Models in .dae as well now. M.

well glad it is finally sorted .... I use the delete and rebuild to "cure issues" all the time, there are just too many check boxes and sometimes in 3 different DBX's to get everything right, esp. if you have "played around" trying to fix stuff ,as once to modify a wall or something it is taken out of the auto-rebuild cycle even if you rebuild or reset the Defaults, it still "assumes" you want it "custom". I don't know the BHG Product , so can't say if it is equal to or better than Suite , I was thinking that all versions had Standard (Rendered)View and Vector View, but I've had Pro 10 for 5 yrs now? so the memory is dimmed on Suite's abilities though I remember it not showing Foundations .... I think (correct me pls) if available printing to PDF will give you a better/more accurate Elevation than a Printed Jpeg if that is the only Options you have . Think the newer version can now Print Directly to PDF can't they? I use PDF995 a free pdf Print Driver for this. Its also handy for PDF "Printing" of the Online Tutorials. M. Edit: Turning off Color and maybe Textures if that is an option in Suite ? may make for better printing too. I see on the Matrix that Architectural has Vector views ,though I'd call Sales to Confirm you can do your Elevations before upgrading. http://cloud.homedesignersoftware.com/1/pdf/product-info/2015/comparison-matrix.pdf
-
I downloaded the Product Matrix and it doesn't look like Suite can do Elevations or import .DXF (export only)....... sorry. Perhaps Print to Scaled PDF ? M.
-
The default elevation view uses "standard rendered view" and it only allows printing of an image as you have seen. Not sure if that is a Limitation of Suite ?, I no longer own it. Switch to vector view if possible (house with brown roof Icon) and you can also Print to Scale etc , add text in the view , dimension etc . -If you want a better Cross Section or want to edit ALL parts of the Cross Section , select Vector view >Export> As DXF ,save file to Desktop or ? folder. -open new plan > Import> DXF , find the file just saved and it will import it as a 2D CAD Drawing in which you may edit any/all Lines ,add text.dimension delete erroneous lines ,change line weights etc -you can import back into the same Vector view instead but it is easier to paste into a new plan so it can be worked on separately. If you import to same the HD software places it exactly on top of the Vector view , so you must use the edit handle to move it sideways or down etc to see it....ie if you import to same view it will look like it didn't work , but it is there.... One caveat is that some versions of the software don't allow you to "see" everything in all views ,so you may need to edit those views and add CAD Lines as needed. Here is the one I was working on today using the .dxf export method, in Pro 10.... M.

one thought......as JoAnn mentioned......Trying making your foundation 36" ( or taller) as the garage slab will sit on top of the footing (at a minimum) so I think you are forcing the slab up since you say your garage is 24" lower than the house. The link to the old forum is about the same issue with an attached garage... @JoAnn , it think he means that only a portion ,say 4' of the garage is attached to the house on one wall , ie the garage is either stepped back or forward of the Main house in plan view. M.

maybe best to delete the foundation and start again with the right settings , check out this thread on the old forum from a couple of months ago.... http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/showthread.php?19447-Full-basement-and-stem-walls-for-garage&highlight=garage+foundation

I don't know what file types you can import but yes it should be possible to "trace" an image file , or perhaps .PDF? or .DXF Have a look in the Knowledge Base about importing plot info , images, tracing etc or your Reference Manual , under Help>Reference Manual which will download the PDF if you don't have it? it is more in depth than the Online Help ,which I guess you already checked? , right ? Here is a link to the KB..... http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/database.html

Soffit tool is in the Cabinet section but can be used everywhere

Nice Work JoAnn , all is not lost if you have Suite
-
No it's not a fault it is as it is programmed , you can use the display options in EVERY view within the HD software to make things visible or not , in CAD Programs they refer to this as "Layers" , items are on there own layers,so you can display them or not , you can if something is "lost" use "select all" ,check display and ALL Layers are turned on so everything is seen IN THAT VIEW ONLY. but can really mess up the plan as you don't always want to see all the framing , furniture etc... so you would need to go back in and disable items you don't need to see. The Red + tells you IF it is used in that plan/view or not. elevations are usually vector views so may not show "Images" you place in Picture Frames ,check edit> Prefs. , think there is a setting about displaying Images too? M.

I upgraded from suite to Arch to Pro for this feature and Manual roofs , but JoAnn played with some work arounds in the other thread I pointed to and She Has Arch. not sure if Suite can do what she did . or you want to spend the time... M.
-
not sure in suite you can edit your foundation as it can't be seen but check out the Walkout Basement thread from last week...<br /><br /><br />https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/63-walk-out-basements/

Specifying different roof overhangs with wall directives in HD Pro
Kbird1 replied to Brent_Ross's topic in Q&A
Since you have Pro can't you just pull that Roof line out to match the two sides manually? Other wise I would of thought and invisible wall between the to corners would cause the roof to move out. Could it possibly be the "alcove" setting that is stopping it generating straight through? I think the default is only 36" M. Edit: just did a quick drawing and setting the minimum Alcove measurement on the On the build Roof DBX 120" causes the roof to generate straight thru.- 1 reply

check your Display (Layers) Options , some items may be off by default in elevation views. Tools>Display settings>Display Options> and make sure your item are checked to display eg Furniture/pictures Furniture/beds or the Icon with the check mark in it is a shortcut ,about no#10 from the left usually. M.
