try sending N8GRAY a personal message , and see if the issue was resolved ,as they never reported the fix back here...assuming there was one... M.

you should be able to change the ceiling height in the Room's structure tab if you are altering an existing plan ? wall heights are controlled by ceiling heights in HD. if you just upgraded you should be on Pro 2016 which released last month , so check you aren't eligible for the free upgrade under the 30 day guarantee policy. it may not be exactly what you have but you can actually place 2 exterior doors , one inswing , one outswing , then drag one on top of the other with the control key , YMMV as it may cause some weird things to happen but is do-able , a paste inplace and reverse of the top copies' swing may work too but here I just dragged one over the other with the Ctrl key.

One of the quirks with stairs is the stair and landing must be the same width or you must break the edge of the landing with the "break line " Tool then they will "snap" together , though I am not sure that is your issue with the Winders as the tutorial works fine for me , I just had a play , I am using Pro 10 and don't see the circle you mention or I see in the Tut. but I actually think that is just the Object snap for centre you are seeing in the Tut. if you have them off in Preferences or toggled off with the icon you may not see them, but grabbing the stair section with the ALT button and curving the 2nd section works fine for me.

Found the old Plan ,so you can look at it to if needed, there are notes on the plan which should help. The main Roof is a Gullwing ,so you may not need those settings. Dutch Gable without Pro Roof planes_2.plan

I have not seen that issue but I don't know what Title or Year you are using as you haven't filled in your Forum signature ( see below). how long do you wait ? is it possibly redrawing the 3D scene still? might be best to Email Tech Support with a copy of your Plan and see if they can figure it out... https://support.chiefarchitect.com/home use the new case button M.

if the stairs aren't the same width all the way up that sometimes stops them from joining properly , but you should be able to open each section of stair and set the top and bottom heights , ie set the bottom height to the same top height as the previous section working your way up. M.

In HD and Chief those Roofs are called Dutch Gables (or Dutch Hip Roof ).......use that to search the Forum or KB A post of mine from a while back on how to do it if you don't have Pro ( I think you have HDA) https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/182-gable-not-at-end-of-roof/#entry925 a tutorial if you do have Pro http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00749/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-a-Dutch-Hip-Roof.html

you may not have slabs in your title , you didn't mention what you have? (add your Title to your forum signature like we do), but all titles have Soffits under Cabinets ,which you can make the same size and material as drywall (or anything else) to fill the back of the niche hole.

Yep the knowledgebase is always a good place to start if you have a question ,lots of good info and "how-to's" there. Since you are on the Trial I know you can't post the plan here, so I wonder if you can show the settings as I'd like to see the settings you are using in the Window - Shape tab if you don't mind taking a screen shot with the Windows Snipping tool (in Accessories) . I was thinking you'd have to make 2 windows each side of centre (at least) to get the divided look you want as I don't think "lites" are compatible with Shaped windows. Not sure if it is easier done in Chief or not ,though I think you are Trial-ing it too? M.

Yep , nicely done Jo , you went all out ! somehow I knew you had an answer M.
-
Yes ,sounds like a plan , it may not have been considered ,since you are the 1st person I have seen ask about doing this .... M.
-
post the plan so others can look, I'm not saying it can't be done, more pics or sketches of the real thing might help too but Forumite Jo_Ann has a way with "HD Workarounds" as She uses HDA too and you may get lucky..... then again $300 is 3 hrs with most Architect's , so maybe worth it @ less than 1% of your budget? turning off auto dormers only turns off the Roof Hole the Dormer cuts , it does not get rid of the Dormer walls or windows turning off "Walls:Normal" will get rid of those but has the side effect of getting rid of ALL walls in Plan view on all levels , which may not be desirable... M.

You have ALL 3 sides of the bumpout set as Full Gable , only the front wall needs that setting, two sides should be default type (hip ie nothing checked on roof tab), see my plan posted above. not sure the middle roof is right ? but doing a Roof rebuild and retaining your manually built roof planes tells me most of the other wall settings are incorrect too. I think you need to look at the Tutorial on doing a Saltbox type Roof which is the main roof type , get that correct then deal with the other roofs like the bumpout as at the moment your manual roof planes are controlling/causing issues such as at the front of the bumpout as the manual roof plane is cutting the auto gable wall off and the Porch roof is 8-10" higher than the main roof. Its not a steeple in t he traditional sense David it is the flat topped portion on the right of the photo behind the tree (with chimney next to it) I would suggest looking at these two Tutorials in the KB on Flat and Parapet Roofs , the Parapet roof maybe what you actually have up there is my guess. If you are new to HD ,Bookmark the KB (knowledgebase) there are many good tuts there worth reading. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00877/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-a-Flat-Roof-on-a-Structure.html + http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00120/

Not sure you could build quite that Window in Pro but you can do triangular windows to match the roof line etc fairly easily like below using the Shape Tab and "match Roof " button this updated Tutorial should help too http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00036/
-
I didn't build a default roof above either , I did it the same way Eric mentions above , drew the walls including bumpout set the 3 gable walls and built the roof , took less than 5mins for that little plan above which is why I wondered if you have something else going on and suggested posting the Plan file so Eric or I could look for you. not sure you really need it but here is the plan for the above pics. Bumpout 1.plan
-
Eric is right above , though you already changed the Wall's Roof settings for the bumpout to Gable per my earlier post , so not sure why that information wasn't used for the other walls? yes learn Auto Roofs to do it quickly and easily but know the manual tools for when things get complicated or you can't do a "rebuild" command. this tutorial on the basic roof designs should help http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Automatically-Building-the-Basic-Roof-Styles.html ***Note in the video Eric linked too, the dialogs will look different as it was done in Pro 2012 , Pro 2015/2016 no longer use TABS but menu items on the left to access the same functions
-
David's video ,got it for you I think , it is only Roof planes they allow you to do this with , to help declutter the plan view of the floor below afaik though.
-
Ok...you missed the 2nd part of Eric instructions which explains it , makes me think though there should be a warning message when you order a Roof rebuilt that tells you that the Roof and ceiling are turned off in some or all rooms as it maybe. you have two different Roof designs looking at the pics too ,with either a gable or hip by the front door ,not sure which is correct.
