sraquet
I"m using Home Designer Architectural 2018 to update an older plan. I've attached images made with Punch Home and Landscape showing two segments of what I call a split shed. I've spent hours trying to do this with Home Designer to no avail. Thanks for any help. Jo_Ann
Not really sure how to visualize what the roof is supposed to look like with just a floor plan image. You need to post 3d images of the house.
sraquet
This is the Punch 3D rendering. You can see the ridge line that separates the two segments.

sraquet
If the floor plan was a rectangle and not split level this would work.
solver
7 minutes ago, sraquet said: If the floor plan was a rectangle Roofs build over rooms, so make the floor plan a rectangle, build the roof, turn off auto rebuild roofs. 8 minutes ago, sraquet said: and not split level this would work Not understanding this. Your info shows a 2 floor structure, not a split level. In any case, you may need to change ceiling heights etc temporally to get the roof built. sraquet
Sorry, you can't see the split level with the image I sent. Punch will not produce more than 3 levels. I've attached the HD image and plan for the upper floor(s). The floor of the living/dining area is 3 feet lower than the entry and bedroom/laundry/bath area. sraquet
Should I start with a rectangle and make the roof, then produce the bump outs?
sraquet
This is the result by starting from scratch with the upper floor a rectangle and using Jo_Ann's instruction.
Jo_Ann
Just guessing.
DavidJPotter
You need to think of non-floorplan walls as Temporary walls for the purpose of guiding the roof generator to obtain the roof result you need and want, then once the roofs are in place, you turn off "Auto Rebuild Roof" command in the "Build Roof Dialog" and then remove the temporary walls and finish you design without thereafter rebuilding roofs. sraquet
OK, David. I understand the concept. Thank you. I will give it a try.
