Trueburton
I am trying to draw a detailed cross section with labels and appropriate call outs for materials for this new home plan I am working on. I did a back clipped cross section to get started. I want to be able to add/edit items to create a fully detailed cross section without changing anything in the plan drawings. I'd like to crop the image of my back clip and then just edit it from there but I can't figure out how to do it. How is everyone else doing this? DavidJPotter
I guess you could export the cross section as a .dxf file (If that is what you want to do?) and then in that form you could then work on it as you would in AutoCAD where all objects visible are merely lines. I use the method described in the KB article that Rookie65 posted, that is your best solution within HD Pro. DJP

Trueburton
I am not getting the framing shown in these cross sections I clicked on auto build framing but its not showing up? Am I doing something wrong?
solver
Each view has its own layer set. Framing is not on by default in the Cross Section layer set, so you need to turn it on. I believe you have an All On layer set. It's a quick way to see all layers on in whatever view you are in.
Trueburton
I can get it to show floor framing but not the top and bottom plates of the walls. I checked all the boxes for framing sill plates
solver
Everything shows in a framing overview? Are you using a Back Clipped cross section?

In plan view, turn on wall framing. Make sure the camera is taking in the wall framing and is not between studs.
Trueburton
ok so i got it to show the wall framing members. But can I save this image so I can edit it and add labels without affecting the plan file?
solver
Draw a new plan. Take a cross section. Make some mods, save camera. Save the plan. Close and reopen. Double click the saved camera and see what is saved.
Trueburton
sorry, I geuss I'm not understanding where the saved camera goes after it is saved? Does it just save it within the plan file? It doesnt create a new file to save
solver
Did you go through the steps in #11? When you reopen the plan, the saved camera will be there, unless it's layer is off.
