Worxman
How do I design a gambrel main building with a lean to on each side? I figured out how to do the main building, but I can't figure out how to add the lean to's without changing the gambrel roof of the main building. I want the lean to's to be shed style as shown in the attached picture. Wife and I are going to build a barn house on the land we just purchased. Thanks for any help! DavidJPotter
How to set up for a gambrel and shed roof is described, each in the "Build Roof Dialog" - "Roof Styles Tab". Then it is a matter of entering the Roof Tab Data directives into each wall setting up the roof pitch directives. Having a good idea of what those pitch values are is the key to getting this done fast. DJP
LawB10
Use a second floor for the Gambrel roof, and then lower the ceiling height, turn off auto rebuild roofs and reset the ceiling height to it's default.
Worxman
Thanks for the responses, but I can do the gambrel roof no problem on the center section. My question was how to do the lean to's on each side. I tried changing the roof type to shed on each of the lean to's, but then it changed the main gambrel section. Worxman
Eric, That is exactly what I'm trying to do, but on both sides. Can you tell me how you added the lean to section?
solver
Draw the 3 walls, set the end walls to full gable. Build the roof.
Worxman
So I did that. I drew the 4 walls of the main building and set the end walls to full gable and then built the gambrel roof. Then I added the 3 walls for the lean to and tried to set the end walls to full gable and built the shed style roof, but it changed the gambrel roof too. LawB10
Is this what you trying to do? I lowered the second floor ceiling to 80", the pitch for the lean to is 4". I turned off auto rebuild roofs and the reset second floor ceiling height to it's default. barnhouse.plan
