jhawk635
Good morning! I'm trying to design my island similar to this picture and cannot figure out where to start. I built the cabinets, etc. but can't figure out the other side where the seating is. Like how to add the structure and legs. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, JHawk

KarenM
JHawk, I recently used this link to create the island in the jpg attached - it got the job done. The software version I'm using doesn't come with the custom countertop option. Thanks, Karen
LawB10
Make the front cabinets 8 to 10" high adjust to the rear cabinets ie: cabinet height 10" floor to bottom 26". go to the library click millwork> balusters and newels. adjust the cooktop cabinet so that the Baluster fits the way you want it for the hood use wall cabinets
jhawk635
wow...several ways to get there. I'll work on it and let you know how it turns out. thanks! JHawk
jhawk635
Ok...it was a little tricky but not so hard... I used LawB's method. If you look closely you can see that the full size cabinets on the inner island no longer automatically come to a point so it leaves a gap. Haven't figured out why since they did before I added the "outer" cabinets.
LawB10
make sure you're cabinets point in the same direction (the arrows)
jhawk635
Yep...all cabinets facing the the right direction (inner towards the inside and outer towards the outside)

Make the front cabinets 8 to 10" high adjust to the rear cabinets ie: cabinet height 10" floor to bottom 26".go to the library click millwork> balusters and newels.adjust the cooktop cabinet so that the Baluster fits the way you want itfor the hood use wall cabinets How does any of this relate to the island? How does any of this relate to the island? The first two items is how I built it just as described. It worked perfect except for the issue I described. LawB10
JHawk check the outer cabinets again, when you angle the cabinets the edges has to touch and be the same height
Jo_Ann
Simplest way... You have Pro, so use the custom countertop and add molding. If you want the 'table like' face below the counter, use soffits or custom countertop for that, too (and you can also add molding to that, as well). LawB10
Or you could use a cabinet(s) that comes with the edge you want cabinets>style template and then go to cabinets doors, drawers and panels to find the face you want. find the color you want, use the paint tool set to C to trim the cabinet.
