  1. Create a Half Wall in a Doorway to model it instead of a Pass Through.
  2. Use the Break Wall tool to place a break on either side of the window, then select the wall segment in the middle, open its Specification dialog, go to the Roof panel, and check "Full Gable" and click OK. Rebuild the roof after making the change if you don't have "Auto Rebuild Roofs" enabled.
  3. I've checked this out a few times and I'm getting the same results as solver, so I'm going to echo contacting the company's technical support team directly. KB-00717: Using the Online Support Center Post back and let us know what they had to say!
  4. KB-00048: Downloading Library Catalogs
  5. The "Arrow" is the Select Objects tool. Definitely go through the User's Guide (under your Help menu) if you haven't already to learn the basics of the software. Then if you're still confused on the difference between tools, check out the training videos and Knowledge Base articles to learn how to add dimensions between objects.
  6. Can't guarantee that it will look anywhere near as good as just modeling the terrain hills/valleys/plants/etc in 3D, but I you could import the photograph as a "Stretch to Fit" material, and apply that material to the terrain. It may get fuzzy though, depending on the quality of the photo relative to the size of your terrain.
  7. Unfortunately, the main article I found on creating a soldier course with steps for an arch only applies to Chief, so I suspect the best we can do in Home Designer is to import something similar. KB-00888: Importing 3D Symbols https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=e0e7891e1cdc1cb1ee29c5eb674fb095
  8. Review the "Navigating in 3D" training video. https://video.homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/player/player.php?id=262&th=1&autoplay=
  9. Pro 2015 wasn't supported under Windows 10, so you'll probably encounter some problems under that OS, and make sure you don't bother trying to download bonus/manufacturer content for the 2016 or newer versions, although your antivirus issue is probably unrelated. KB-01095: System Requirements for Home Designer 2015
  10. The plan definitely looks too rough to do offer any real suggestions for it at this stage. Since it sounds like you just need to create the curved wall and windows on Floor 1 the way you want, then select the wall, go to Edit> Copy, move up to Floor 2, select Edit> Paste> Paste Hold Position. Make sure to set the Room Type on Floor 2 as Open Below.

  13. It's been ages since I've used my old version 10 Architectural program, but I'm fairly certain that key frames were added in a newer version. KB-01045: Using the Create Walkthrough Path Tool
  14. If you upgrade to the Chief Architect Premier version, you can set up templates for that. In Home Designer, just set up all your defaults, save the plan, and any time you want to start a new drawing, open the file you saved and then immediately do a File> Save As to give it a new name before drawing anything.
  15. I guess it could be a video card issue, but more likely it's just the lighting you have in the plan. Lighting controls how bright a color will be and how close it'll match to what you see in the Library Browser.
  16. Before upgrading to Pro, in an earlier version of Architectural, I recall having to use a resized thin "Wedge" shape from the Library Browser with Siding or whatever material applied to get the right look for situations like this.
  17. It might be too short on the forum itself, but you should be able to search the main website for SEH. I would guess based on this Knowledge Base article that error probably has a "Check Knowledge Base" button that links to it. KB-00802: Troubleshooting Exception Error Messages
  18. I'm not totally sure that I understand your question, but maybe check out this Knowledge Base article (applies to Pro only). KB-01809: Creating a Stepped Foundation

    Batt and Board

The CertainTeed manufacturer catalog also has some Board & Batten materials.
  20. Thirding what the other folks have said, the easiest/best option is just get the cabinet models as close as you can in the software itself rather than mucking about with importing. Or, if you want to do extra work anyway, maybe post on ChiefTalk in Seeking Services and ask someone with Premier who has the KraftMaid cabinet catalog designed for Chief Architect programs to replace the cabinets with the ones you want to use, mark the plan to be able to be edited in Home Designer, and return the modified version to you. Or, as already suggested, you can also use the free version of SketchUp to rotate the symbols before you import them in to Home Designer so that they are at the proper orientation.

  22. There's an article on the error, plus someone recently also had extra steps that they posted that Technical Support gave them. KB-02962: Message: The program is already running. Running two or more simultaneous sessions is not recommended. Previous HomeTalk thread: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1942-the-program-is-already-running-running-two-or-more-simultaneous-sessions-is-not-recommended/ Have you tried these steps to try to resolve the error? If so, maybe try creating a new user Account in Windows with full administrative rights and see if you have the same problem logged in to that Account? If none of that works, you'd be better off contacting the company's Support folks directly, rather than posting here on the user forum, although you can always update the thread once you get it fixed to maybe help someone else with the same problem down the road.
  23. Build it basically like a Clerestory (discussed in this article), but you won't have to worry about the differing ceiling heights and define the walls for creating side by side gable roofs instead of shed roofs. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00492/building-a-clerestory-roof.html Once you get the roof built right, you will turn off Auto Rebuild Roofs in the Build Roof dialog and be able to delete the extra unneeded walls.
  24. Are you maybe thinking of the "Components" dialog that comes up when you select a wall and click on this Edit tool in Pro?
  25. If you have an "Open Below" room, then it definitely will have to generate a platform, which from my understanding will trigger the wall type changing for a Room Divider.
