  1. You are probably seeing the brick ledge from the 1st floor walls. Don't know why it's like that, but changing the foundation wall fixes it.
  2. What type of defaults do you want to set? Some defaults are dynamic -- change the default and things change in the plan, some are not. My initial guess is that you should create a template with your current plan, then using Edit Area, copy/paste from each older plan to a new one created from the template. There is no export/import defaults or layer sets in Home Designer.
  3. Not sure what you are asking. I did a video on templates that may help. If not, ask.

You install on a new computer just as you did on the old one. What is "need to shut down program"?.
  5. This is a scissor truss. the roof pitch and the ceiling pitch are different. When using windows that are angled on top -- which pitch do you match? If you match the ceiling, they look good from the inside, but not from the exterior.
  6. Might want to check with the builder about roof construction. If using trusses, like maybe a scissor truss, that may impact window placement. Probably should be looking from the inside out too.
  7. You won't be doing them with Pro, so you will need another program to model these features and then import them. SketchUp is popular with many and creates symbols that are usable in Pro. Another example done with Premier. Note the wall curving into the casing and the curved base. Maybe you need a corbel or bracket -- simple in Premier, not possible in Pro.
  8. You really need Premier to model these things, and it still will not be easy. Here is a simple example that was fairly easy, but it uses tools not available in Home Designer.
  9. Two plans each with a different roof. You cannot change the roof, but should be able to change other things. FrontOfHouse.zip

Lots of good info in the links below. I'd start on YouTube with the hour long webinars. Resources for self help: The built in Help System (always a good place to start) Getting Started Knowledge Base YouTube
  11. Like this -- just the roof. Do you have plans for this house?
  12. That's because there is no pitch associated with a gable wall. Pitch is set in the walls under the low point of a roof plane (where the roof plane baseline is).
  13. Do you have Auto Rebuild Framing on for everything?

You have found it. What else are you looking for?
  16. Think of a right triangle. The hypotenuse is the roof, the short leg is probably the rise, in your case 6', and the long leg only you know. Plug in the numbers, do some trig to find angle A. Convert to pitch. Or using manual roofs, draw the roof, open it and adjust the settings -- no need to compute pitch. What are you calling wall height? This dialog should give you that info. There are a variety of dimension tools that may be used. What specifically do you need to measure?
  17. Yes, lower the Absolute Elevation for each room.
  18. Those are temporary points. Search Help for more info.
  19. Definitely a tech support problem. Does it happen if you close and immediately reopen the plan? I've never seen or know of anyone reporting this here or on ChiefTalk.

    Buy List Help

Look at the Materials List specific toolbar -- shown when looking at a Materials List.
  21. Turn grid snaps off, and/or check your dimension defaults for Locate Items. If it's the outside edge, that's the edge of the slab.
