MidwestBrian
I have created two elevation regions with a retaining wall. The software is adding unwanted terrain lines that create spikes and bumps in the 3D view. Is there any way to manually remove the terrain lines. Jo_Ann
I counted at least 15 elevation regions along that retaining wall. Good grief! Terrains are finicky. Try pulling each of the elevation region sides a little further into the retaining wall.
DavidJPotter
Well, you did not say exactly which Home Designer product you have or its version, so I tried it in Suite 2021 and then X12, I hope you get a better idea of how to work with Terrain from my efforts to help: Keep it simple and let it flow DJP
LawB10
Here's a modified version. There are to many elevation regions and unnecessary terrain features. To retain the Porch foundations, keep the walls in-place, turn off auto rebuild foundation then make the walls invisible. Base Design.plan
MidwestBrian
@DavidJPotter, thank you for the video. I appreciate all the help! I am using Home Designer Suite. I was able to get the gradient to generate by making adjustments to the positions the elevation regions and the retaining wall after deleting and recreating them. I had a lot of extra elevation data from trying to troubleshoot the issue. I was also able to create the stairs using very small landings at the top and bottom. Thanks Again, Brian
DavidJPotter
Just keep in mind that "flat regions" are only used where you need a flat space, like around a house or playground. Most of the time you simply want a relative change or gradient and that is always produced between two terrain lines or splines, set to differing values and to never place those lines or splines too close to each other. For abrupt changes or drops one uses a "Terrain Break". When terrain objects are too close or they cross each other causes "bazaaro world" every time.
