RobynKS
Hi All I have been trying to put exposed rafters in my Barn Plan The measurements are right but the rafters are looking like they are out of line. Any suggestions.???
solver
Could you show a framing view?
DavidJPotter
In order to have, fully, exposed rafters you also have to turn off "soffit and fascia" so that the rafter tails become exposed. DJP
RobynKS
Thankyou David but I made them with the soffit tool as that's how the manual quotes. Is there another way? Also I was concerned about how out of line they were even though the measurements r correct. Eric I will do thay tonight.
RobynKS
Eric in the manual it said to shift select. Each item how do u do it? It takes me ages to find things in the manual.
solver
I did not catch you were doing them with soffits. Framing view won't help.
RobynKS
Yes it is of a concern that they need to be drawn this way and wonder what local council will say when they get the drawings.
DavidJPotter
Since they added the exposed rafter tail feature some versions ago, I stopped using sloped soffits for that purpose. My answer is based upon present tools and conventions (using sloped soffits was a work-round that is now unnecessary IMHO) DJP
RobynKS
David if it is not necessary to use the soffit tool where is the rafter with tail tool you mention?
