annlowens
I am new to Home Designer Pro. I can't figure out how to place an outlet in a wall niche. This is a fairly large niche (30x78x19" deep) There are outlets on the left wall of the niche and also in the back of the niche but the software will not let me place these outlets. The niche was made using a pass through and soffits in the back. Is it possible to place outlets in this niche?
Jo_Ann
Check your Reference Manual
annlowens
I did that before I asked the question in this forum. I read about soffits, pass-throughs, outlets and placing objects and I did not find anything that answers my question. I don't know where else to look in the reference manual. That's why I came here. Jo_Ann
In the reference manual under 'Electrical Tools' you will find this statement : "Click in floor plan view to place an electrical object. Some can only be placed against walls, some only on the ceiling or floor."
LawB10
Go to 3d warehouse and download the outlets you like. Keep in mind that any electrical objects won't work in the program. Example: lights will not work, the electrical connector will not connect to electrical objects.
solver
Create a new (thin) wall type for the back wall of the niche. Use a soffit to fill in top and bottom, and along the sides. I left the side soffits out so you could see how the interior of the wall shows.
