jchenryaia
Hi, I have been frustrated trying to get the walls to move smoothly by one inch increments. The walls move to some predetermined location instead. What should I be doing? Thanks
jchenryaia
Thanks Eric, I am using Home Designer Essentials. I have turned the snap button off and I cannot get the walls to move smoothly in small increments still.
DavidJPotter
The best method is to select a wall and then move it by a connected dimension or you can draw a manual dimension and the click on the wall you wish to move accurately and then click on the connected perpendicular dimension. when you click you get an input box where you can enter the desired value. jchenryaia
Aha, thank you DJP. I also read the 'destructions':If you use your mouse button to click and hold the wall and hold down Ctrl you can move the wall inch by inch. My bad. Thanks all. solver
Thanks Eric, I am using Home Designer Essentials. I have turned the snap button off and I cannot get the walls to move smoothly in small increments still. I don't see a Home Designer Essentials on the website. Is this an older version? That's because snaps are off. If your snap grid is set to 1", things will move in 1" increments.
solver
No need to use the control key unless you want to override snaps. Doing so is usually not a good idea as you will locate items imprecisely. The dimensions displayed are rounded. Click a dimension to see the actual. It will often end in something like .1296756 instead of .125.
Kenneth_L
Have you tried opening the copy / move dialogue box and put in the exact dimension you what the selected object to move? You can choose to move the object in the x, y or z axis. I use this quite often.
English
You can also move things in the increment snap using the arrow keys -- one click moves one increment in any direction. Alan
