yes any layer that is locked wont be selected , you would need to go into Display options select all, unlock all and then use Eric's idea. draw a simple 30'x40' hip roofed house ( basically the HD Tutorials house) and try the rotate option from the menu , works properly for me.... M.
-
I have no idea how they compute it, the alignment option only refers to the text within it's box I think, but you could play with the settings for the Default Room Label defaults>Rooms>Room label there maybe more info in the Reference Manual too? M.
-
there is a setting under Edit >Default>Text>Text Styles>Room Label style> Edit> uncheck Rotate with plan you may need to uncheck it for Room Label box style too you can do it with out options too such as cabinet labels to as needed
-
Use the centering tool .....I am not sure there is a way to make it automatic every time ,someone else make chip in with more advise
-
you should update you profile so we know which software and year you are using , I think this is a Pro only feature but this might be a question for tech support ? AFAIK the software "references" everything off the bottom of the screen , I just tried it in 2015 and it works as it should , ie up key is up at either 0° or 90° after rotating
-
sorry I cant be more help , if a reinstall doesn't work you could email tech support and see if they can help , I think the new version can run on Vista though so perhaps you will need to upgrade ? think there is a $30 rebate for suite if you do.... Edit yes the new version works on Vista according to the website http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/home-designer-suite/ then system requirements link.

I am not sure Suite has EDIT OBJECT PARTS as that is a CAD function ,but if you do there should be and icon and an option in the Preferences see the pics. Suite 8 is pretty old , I had it many years ago ( now have Pro10) but don't remember that issue at all , David (DJP) may still have it installed and be able to check a few things for you. If you are trying to install it on Windows 8 that may be an issue as I think it was for XP or Vista. M.

sounds like you just need to set the walls opposite of how you have them now then ,go thru the gambrel tutorial again carefully and set the correct walls as full gable. not quite sure what the issue with angle snaps is from your decription.....there is an icon to toggle them on or off ( or F10),default is on I think The are also settings for snapping in the preferences Menu and on the Edit menu >snap setting too angle snap icon Snap Setting in Preferences have a look at this KB Tutorial for mezzanine / loft area http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00210/ or other posts on mezzanine via the search function of the forum http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/search/?q=mezzanine&default_tab=support&site=chief_architect&client=chief_architect&restrict=ChiefArchitect&proxystylesheet=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chiefarchitect.com%2Fsearch%2Fchiefsearch_stylesheet.xslt&output=xml_no_dtd&submit.x=5&submit.y=15 M.

Do you have shadows on in the edit>preferences>render panel Eraser ? cant you flip the fixture right side up in sketchup and reimport ? In HD titles I don't think it is possible to set attributes on import like you can in Chief however. Triblaco , sorry not much help but have you checked the Render panel for options too eg soft shadows etc

There is a wealth of information/tutorials in the KnowledgeBase but the UserGuide (see help menu) has tutorials too you can use to learn the program Is it a Pole Barn or basically just a big shed/garage? I thought from your other thread it was a historic French Stone barn? this KB article may help if it is a Pole Barn? http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01081/103/Home-Designer/Framing/Creating-a-Pole-Barn-Structure.html the basic roofs http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/

there is a space planner under tools>space planning ( in Pro anyway) and once you have it finished it will convert the design to walls and 3D for you automatically when you click the "build house button". M.

That looks like a standard single hinged door now , completely different than what you posted yesterday ......as you can see the software cannot make those panelled doors at an angle ( even if your door guy can) but if you change the door to a slab it will look better as the software has no issue with a solid slab door. having the hinges on the left will possibly be an issue with the point hitting the underside of the stairs too. night.

I am guess you are talking about the light coloured streaks by the desk and window , I also see white vertical lines at the end by the Lambo. pic are they supposed to be there? I think you should send the plan to TS so they can look at it , I haven't seen this issue but I don't have the latest version of Pro either. if you get an answer please update this thread so we all know the possible issues and the fix. you can post pics here directly on the forum using the More Reply Options button and the attach area.
-
you are correct Len as far as I know Only Pro can import .dxf files Suite also wont do Elevations easily and does not have any manual roof planes but that maybe not an issue Barn roofs are typically fairly easy. if it is only a barn it should be pretty quick to redraw in HD Suite. unfortunately a plan drawn in a better version eg Pro cannot be opened in a lessor (or Older) version either. Have a look on the import menu in Suite , can they supply the DXF in another format you can import ? Mick
-
if you need more help a pic of the plan view may help us understand what you are doing Robyn ,especially since I think the terms you use are different in Oz from Nth America eg a bifold door here has a track at the top , to no way the top could be angled.
-
Hi Len please update your signature so we know what HD software title and year you are using as only Pro has all the features and answers may depend on your title. I am not 100% clear on what you are asking or trying to do either , so please explain more and perhaps add pictures as needed per https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/221-how-to-take-pics-of-your-plan-to-post-here/?hl=pics

Thx R65 , nice tip ,I just had a play and if you keep the 6 panelled door it will stay square but if you choose the slab door it will angle it seems , the Panel (French) door will too but has some sort of anomalie in the high side angle in 3D. I think you could use CAD to figure out the height of the tudor arch using the width of the door (30"?) and opening the staircase DBX to find it's Angle and then measuring the height at 30" (in my case) to get the Tudor Arch height. PS the furniture (drawers) would stop a swing door opening in its current position
-
Generally doors like that are altered in height only in the DBX , as Pro doesn't make an angle top to the stair angle automatically if that is what you mean. I would just lower the height and add a text note to the Drawings indicating a custom cut door. you maybe able to use a slab to make the door and use a Doorway for the frame ( i'd need to try it) but even the Doorway probably will still stick out of the wall so perhaps no real advantage. Perhaps Jo_Ann has a trick up her sleeve ...we'll see..... perhaps Sketchup is the best option it's free , of course Chief can do it too...make custom doors that is http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01808/ Even in the real world that type of panelled door is going to look strange with an angled top due to the panels . but any good carpenter can take a prehung door and cut a flat slab down if needed and make it work. Of course you can cut the panel doors too but it is much harder to fix the cut edge due to the panel. Mick.

if you just need a simple shape to represent a showerbase you can in Pro at least, covert the CAD Polyline to a solid and then give it a depth and apply tile as a material. You could also use the Custom Slab or Countertop Tools in Pro for this Rounded shape. For rectangular/square, you can use Soffits and slabs as an option but there are library items for those anyway in full 3D you can resize.
-
Ahhhhhh...... I see you have Chief X6 too not one of the Home Designer Titles which can't make 3D Objects ,but is possible in Chief using Solids or Primitives but you are best to ask over on Chieftalk about that here https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/ if that is the exact and only shape you can use and you need to make a symbol. However to place a Shower tray you could just use an item from the Library under Plumbing fixtures ( use the search function in the library if needed)
-
yes pics would help greatly , have a look at this post on how to do that https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/221-how-to-take-pics-of-your-plan-to-post-here/?hl=%2Bpost+%2Bpics

I am not sure why you used CAD to draw the walls instead of using the Wall Tools but you don't mention what Title or year you are using so I am unsure what option you have , it is a good idea to add that information to you signature like I have , see below. There is a Tool cad CAD to Walls but I don't know if you have it ? The other option is to probably trace over the CAD Drawing using the Walls Tools , then delete the CAD afterwards once you have the 3D there are some sample bathroom plans you could look at too (opening may depend on your version) http://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/downloads/plans/kitchen.zip http://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/downloads/plans/sauna-bath.zip http://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/downloads/plans/sandstone-beam-bath.zip and some videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJKwxasGfBE http://video.chiefarchitect.com/?autoplay=10027

I see you got your answer on ChiefTalk ..............use Full camera not Floor Camera to display vaulted/open below areas M.
-
You can use the Polyline Stepping Stone tool to do those I think ( I don't do a lot of landscaping) or you can use the custom slab tool to make those to the sizes required and apply a stone material , then add to your library so you can use over and over again. If you have a good photo of the exact stone taken square on you can apply it as a texture/material too. M. edit: the Polyline Stepping Stone tool works pretty well Robyn , I made one then used copy and paste in place and then moved as needed
-
Not sure if you can do it in Suite but in Pro you can then save the Door to your User library and use it repeatedly or even make it the default door too.
