  1. At least in Pro 10 they are all in the basic Pro Content Library ( unless I imported then from HDA9?). there were only ever 8 bonus Libraries for 10. and 34 Manufacturer's Lib. I agree about the Libraries but they only usually go back 3 versions for library files on the website when 2016 comes out in June/July I suspect the 2012 files will disappear same as 10 's did last June , so I'm glad I backed them up. Its a ggod idea to export the Libraries and save them / back them up to DVD so you can install them again if for example you have a HD crash , a fire , or burglary etc as HD won't provide those files anymore. Mick.
  2. STL is for 3D Printers so you can "Print" your House....if you can find a converter to .3DS or .OBJ perhaps you can use it in Blender. (or use Chief) Pro (or any HD title ) can not export 3d Models only import them , at least I don't think that changed in the newer versions... In HD you need to play with lighting and materials reflective properties and their emmisiveness etc to get it right , and you are right Jo_Ann and Kristine appear to have Mastered it. Perhaps there is some Photoshopping done on the Jpegs? , I am not sure.... M
  3. Not at all Jo, there are no people in newer versions and I looked at the Library Kristine mentioned last night now I have access to HD10 again and there are all sorts in there like a plane , a helicopter, other Rec.Vehicles ,Playing fields,Sports Equip. and Toys etc, which you have no doubt being on V10 , though I am not sure when New titles lost what. Perhaps we should start a new thread for Library Items only? Rec. vehicles including the bike Rec.Vehicles_V10.calibz Aircraft Aircraft_V10.calibz
  4. you might want to go ahead Mike hasn't been on the forums for 3 weeks and might not answer you for some time.
  5. Some items just are not group-able or Block-able in that case it is better to copy/paste them into a new plan and save it as say "Dining Set" then when you need it, open the plan again and copy/paste into the new Plan you are working on. Are you Shift-selecting to group items ? ( ie hold shift to select multiple objects) The green cabinet is likely "seen" as a cabinet and they are blockable I thought Tables and Chairs could be too? http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00191/260/Home-Designer/Architectural-Blocks/Creating-an-Architectural-Block.html Jo_Ann does a nice job of lighting , perhaps if you post your plan she will have a look for you , She has HDA 10 too so should work. you can post files upto 25mb each here. if they are too big try zipping it , if you don't want to delete stuff to get the size down then a GoogleDrive/OneDrive/Dropbox link is the next best thing. M.
  6. with the library open if you right click on the bicycle in the library tree you should get the option to export it , export/save to your desktop, then attach the file to your post just like you do pics. Library items seem to come and go year by year , you probably have People too , they are no longer included either but there is a thread here on 3D People that I and David have posted files too.
  7. not sure what little booklet you are referring to E. but my Manual has over 900 A4 pages , you can get PDF on the help menu along with the User guide which will teach you how to use the program with a number of good tutorials. If you are going to post Questions please add you HD Title to your signature and what yr it is, there are 10 versions of HD this year alone if you count the MAC ones. this post will tell you how https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/12-please-add-your-version-title-and-number-to-your-forum-signature/ and when you need to post pictures of your problems this one, https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/221-how-to-take-pics-of-your-plan-to-post-here/ you can use the same method above to post a copy of your plan file which is much better as we don't need to "guess" what the problem is. And PS Tech Support is done at Company HQ in Idaho ............however these Forums are TOTALLY DIY it just End Users like You and Me here
  8. 2015 does not have a Recreation Vehicles Section or Bicycles ( why I suggested 3DWH) but you could Export that Library for her and post it to the Thread so others will have it too.
  9. Don't think I have seen a true 3D one you might need to try 3D Warehouse https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=bicycle&backendClass=entity
  10. Well now I understand what you meant about a U-shaped deck the 2nd photo tells me you haven't set the Wall's Roof parameter correctly ( per the Shed roof Tutorial ) better you reread it than I tell you so you "get it" ...hint fill the right checkbox on the Roof tab.
  11. your welcome ...and I appreciate the Thank You message. Mick.
  12. Yes I got what you meant , but you have run into a limitation of the Chief/HD software in that it cant do what you want, the way you want .......without knowing a HD Trick or two anyway, or what we here love to Call a "workaround" . You only get moldings in Rooms , and for whatever reason HD doesn't consider a free standing wall to be part of the Room ( it could be a piece of furniture for all HD knows) so the trick in this case is to use the Room Divider Tool (was called Invisible Wall till 2015) and join your free standing wall(s) to the exterior walls of the room and it will get molding and be able to be "painted" with the Painter Tool as well. However to put that strip on one wall it is far easier and faster just to spec that material on the Wall's material tab for either the interior or exterior side of the wall. If you select a wall in HD in Plan view the exterior side as HD "sees" it has an edit handle on it , in 2015 the new preview window in the DBX will also show you and you can spin it the wall if needed , make sure Standard view is on as vector view wont show the stripe. from the manual about the Painter Tool Material Painter Modes Component Mode By default, when you first activate the Material Painter, Component Mode is selected. This mode applies materials to the component of an object, when you click on that particular component. Example: To paint the door of a cabinet a different color, select Component Mode if it is not already selected by default, then use the Material Painter to change only the door. Exception: If you use component mode to apply materials to a wall, all the walls in the room change. To change a single wall, select the wall, open the specification, and select the material on the Materials panel. Mick

    Insane terrain

IF I knew why it worked Vikki , i'd tell ya no problem you mentioned it only occurred when the bed was placed so after moving it and see the issue ,I opened the beds DBX to see if any thing weird was spec'd ...no ...1" thick bed seemed incorrect so I changed it to 4" ,which fixed the terrain issue to my surprise, I then tried 10" (like a real flowerbed) , still good , so I put it back how it was originally , then played with the sidewalks and all seemed well. tried it twice to be sure and it worked again ....so figured you should try it incase you were seeing something I wasn't. David or one of the others may have a bit more insight as to the "why" ..... glad that got it and it was so simple..... Mick.

    Insane terrain

I changed the bed thickness to 4" after seeing some terrain "trees" grow at the line of the back of the house after moving the bed out away from the house and the "crazies" went away....cant explain it , moved the bed back , set bed back to 1" thick and the crazies didn't reappear try it again after doing what I did and let me know what happens as I am not sure what you were trying to do originally , I saw nothing wrong in terrain when I 1st opened the plan, the weirdness didn't happen till I moved the bed then 3 "spikes" of grass appeared each side of the house , after doing the "fix" above I had a play with your side walk and resized the bed etc and all remained as it should.... M.
  15. Hi feel free to post your plan and pics of the issue or send it to tech support if you think it is a Bug but I am not sure you are getting the fact, that to change one wall only you must use the Wall DBX and the materials Tab , not the Painter Tools , per the KB Article. I am not sure the Program works the way you think it should , maybe I misunderstand the issue since you have not posted any examples or a plan ? M.
  16. I should of looked in the KB earlier to clarify this , looks like I'm right above http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00851/49/Home-Designer/Materials/How-to-Use-the-Material-Painter-Modes.html
  17. I "think" the Painter works on a ROOM/FLOOR/PLAN basis .....for single walls I always use the Wall DBX to change the interior Walls Material type , in fact I rarely if ever use the Painter Tool at all. ( not an I.D. so not trying dozens of Colours to see what they look like)
  18. I agree dialog boxes (DBX) and having to close them to apply settings are the bain of all Chief/HD Software
  19. post the plan perhaps ? we'd only be guessing , you got the dormer on the garage ok so you may have seen the KBA below already but I don't see anything obvious just from your 2 pics. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00367/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Drawing-a-Shed-Dormer-Manually.html
  20. Cant try it right now but have a look at these too , if you ever have an issue it is a good place to start, lots of good info. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00071/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Changing-the-Color-or-Material-of-a-Single-Wall.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00305/147/Home-Designer/Rooms/Changing-a-Rooms-Materials.html

25mb per file is the max , 50mb total for each user , so easiest way is to make a copy of your plan and delete stuff from the plan like furniture/cabinets/lighting/fixtures etc since we are going to look at the terrain. zipping the plan might help compress it some too ? perhaps try that 1st Or Dropbox or OneDrive or similar service will work too. M.
  22. Yep when you use the material definition tool on the Texture tab you can play with the textures size and for positioning it's origin , it a bit of a pain as you need to close the window for the setting to apply and then reopen till you get it right. Not sure if that is fixd in the newer versions ? but you should download the 2015 trial and play with it but wait perhaps to up grade , I saw today X7 will come out in March and typically the HD titles are released in May , think it was May 30 last year 2015 came out. around page 600 of the manual they start discussing the "Origin"
  23. No just draw a 30'X30' or so box with the exterior wall tools and then build your bathroom inside as needed with the interior wall tool , that way you will get ceilings etc in your bathroom and not get other weird issues. As you are new make sure to checkout the KnowledgeBase (KB) too...lots of good tutorials and answers to many of your questions ,,,including this one.... http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00917/147/Home-Designer/Rooms/How-to-Model-a-Single-Room-or-Apartment.html Add your Version and title to your forum signature then you wont need to add it with each question M.
  24. Nice workaround Jo ...as usual ..... but is it just me or do these models look cartoonish to everyone ? I think yours looks better Jo ,maybe just the texture isn't that good but lots of good texture sites out there Kris like these. http://www.cgtextures.com/textures.php http://3d-diva.davidmichaeldesigns.com/ you could export your model Jo and let Kris try it since you are using the same version.... M.
