"Wrong" is not the right word, I would rather suggest that you can edit an existing bed poly-line by added line breaks (in the Edit Tool Bar) to add more arc line entities to further shape and control your bed object. Learning how to edit and shape those is better than using several to obtain the same result. You click-select the bed object, then while selected, click on the break line tool in the edit toolbar, then left-click where you want an additional line break to further control-shape your bed object. You can also use the other "feature" objects and then reshape them to your needs also. Some of these Knowledge Base Help articles may also be helpful to your purposes: https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/search/?q=garden+beds DJP

Switch Interior dimension lines to only ONE side of the room
DavidJPotter replied to Roberto's topic in Q&A
I have complained to Tech Support about auto interior dimensions tool but until they do something you can merely delete the strings that you do not want and or manually alter them to suit your needs. DJP- 1 reply

In Windows 7 or 10 you can use the "Snipping" tool to do that or you can save what appears on your screen by using the "File - Export Image" command. Also some of these Knowledge Base Help Articles may contain some useful advice: https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/search/?q=export+image DJP

Before you build roofs you would open th "Build Roof" dialog and using its "Framing Tab" you could alter the thickness of the roof planes to emulate the additional roof thickness you desire. You will not be able to rename those framing layers but you can set them to emulate the wanted thicknesses. When you have that set just as you like it, then build roofs and it should give you the appearance you want. DJP

I recommend that you call Chief Architect Sales and ask them for advice. DJP

No, no home designer title can export useful 3D models for use in viewers, except .stl files and I do not know a viewer that handles them (perhaps there is one, I just do not know of it). I post 3D models to Sketchfab using 3DS format but I use Chief Premier which as greater capabilities. Premier also outputs to other 3D files that can be used in other applications. I know you are probably tired of hearing this but you actually do get only what you pay for. I have never used this application but you are free to : https://a360.autodesk.com/?gclid=CLD235P4oMsCFZE0aQodcXcCJQ&gclsrc=aw.ds DJP PS: I signed up for a free account and this was the result of a simple .stl upload I made of a garage plan created by others: https://myhub.autodesk360.com/ue29037c1/g/live_review/SH7f1edQT22b515c761e354225d8627eba71?uid=4NZVRMCGSQGJ&sessionID=SH7f1edQT22b515c761e354225d8627eba71 It is not Great but it is free and fully 3D

No, it is merely a slightly different floor level, it can be lower than the rest of the first floor or slightly higher than the first floor. You make the change by drawing a wall to divide the two rooms setting one different from the adjacent one. DJP
-
Draw a segmented or curved wall. Set the rooms ceiling height high enough so that you have room for the windows. Create the lowest level of the windows to fill or fit into the curved wall. Then shift-select the grouped windows as a group and copy-drag-paste those windows up for the next level up then repeat until you have the number of windows you require. DJP

The hard part is a matter of scaling and of course orientating the image so it reflects a proper "North Pointer". Importing such an image is the easy part. DJP

When I upgraded to Windows 10 back in July I started having this "message" and it was worse for me because of all the Chief Premier and Home Designer titles I have on my PC. I and others complained of this on Chief Talk and one of the software Architects laid out the steps to handle which involves making your User Account in Windows 10 as Administrator and I set each application I had, one at a time to "Run as Administrator". That worked for me, I am sorry it is not working for you but you might just check again, I mean the advice you were given works IF successfully done as opposed to kinda done. DJP

If there are not two separate inputs on the "Materials Tab" of the Door's Dialog Box then no solution for that problem is possible. You should first try the Dialog box-materials Tab for such things and try to ween off the use of the Materials Eye Dropper and Painter at least until you study those tools various "Modes of Use". I have seen many plans by new users destroyed and corrupted by misuse of those tools. DJP
-
Commonly you open the dialog box of the object you want to change. Then go to its "Material Tab". Select the material you wish to alter as a "Plan Material" where you can then select its Dialog box to change its vector lines to black for black and white vector view printing. Without handling the original Material Texture that change does not, by itself effect Render view camera appearances. DJP
-
I know of no videos on this subject but it involves 1. exporting the existing texture file as a copy. 2. Altering that texture file in an image editing application like Eric suggested. 3. Importing the edited texture as a new custom material (see Reference Manual for details). 4. As part of creating the new custom material you give the new material a new name and import it into your "Users Catalog" area of the Library Browser. The steps are not complicated but require preciseness. DJP

Image quality and resolution are determined by the size of your monitor and quality of your video card. Other that those two factors the limiter overall is the computer language used by all Home Designer titles including Home Designer Pro is called "Open Graphic Language" ( Open GL )which is the way a PC can translate graphic information and make it visible to the eye. This is also true of Chief Architect Premier except that Premier also has a Ray Tracing application ( a separate rendering image application) that can increase the resolution and size of an image, The larger the image output the longer it takes to create. The file format is something you can experiment with (.jpg, .bmp, .png, .tiff and .gif) , I prefer .jpg for several reasons and have not observed a marked difference between image file formats worth mentioning. Possible to open a X8 .plan file with Home Designer 2016?
DavidJPotter replied to SpockDude's topic in Q&A
Home Designers next version based upon X8 is yet to be released, sorry but you will have to wait to open your file after you upgrade provided the Chief Premier properly formatted your plan file. DJP -
After you have your split entry house done you draw your garage, manually setting its "Floor" level where you need it relative the entry and then manually set its ceiling height, when everything is properly set, then build roofs. If you need to you can work out the relative heights on paper to figure out the settings you need (guessing takes longer). DJP
