Robborito Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM I know this subject has been tabled before however I still don't understand the reasoning put forward by CA support - so Ill ask it again of this forum of users... Why is it that the normal CAD point selection using the left mouse button, is not available in either Home Designer or Chief Architect. Instead we have this point and hold method with the left mouse button. I asked support on this topic a while back and I was told that CA has the regular left mouse button point selection and HD does not. (cause it's DIY) My CA demo - has same mouse button point and hold as my HDPro2024 that I use (nearly) every day. Is there a particular pointing devise (out there) that the current method of point and hold is best suited to? If so, what is it. Does anyone know of it, or use it maybe? Jeff. Robborito Posted yesterday at 10:00 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 10:00 AM OK - When you (left mouse button) pick a start point, do you hold the left mouse button down until you pick a second point- and so on to all other points? ArchiCAD, Revit, AutoCAD - point selection is different. The left mouse button selects or clicks on the points without having to be holding mouse button down between points. That's it in brief. RoyJames
Here are a couple methods of selecting existing CAD points: 1. If you have the Place Point tool active, you should be able to select an existing CAD point to make it the active point. Ensure you are right over the center of it. 2. With just the selection tool active, you can double click on a CAD point and hit Esc or Cancel out of the Move CAD Point window to make the current point active. I hope this helps! Robborito
7 hours ago, RoyJames said: I hope this helps! RoyJames - no nothing to do with your post - sorry. I'm talking about the workflow of using the left mouse button to select a point in general modelling, drawing etc. Currently - we have to hold down the left mouse button between points as we draw, I want to use the left mouse button to click on points without holding down the button between points. Points being - say if I was drawing a new wall or a poly line for example. The normal CAD method of point selection when drawing/modeling. CA support tells me its a method held-back in HDPro, but available in Chief. Why? I can't find it I'm my demo of Chief.
y-g-m-n
I got it now.... I think please confirm TO draw a wall or a line or anything really You click start point and HOLD LEFT button on mouse and drag to wall end point and then release button. What you want is click start point and then release button while you move mouse to end point and then click left again to set end point. Never notice this, I guess I just got used to HD control and go. I draw in AutoCAD and SolidWorks as well and cannot tell you how I draw without opening them up and drawing then I could tell ya. Been using them all for so long that I just draw when I am using them.
