Interior Dimensions

When I set a room type it displays the dimensions of the room but this does not agree with the dimensions shown by the Interior Dimensions tool, they are 1" smaller on each axis. I assume this is because the room type display is measuring the room from drywall to drywall and the dimension tool is measuring from framing to framing. Is there a way to change the way the interior dimension tool measures so that it is drywall to drywall?

Tip: Always say what title and year (Pro 2020, Suite 2023) you are using.

Check your Defaults for dimension settings.

You may select the dimension and manually reposition the end points to the surface.

Thanks.

I'm running 2025 HD Architecture.

I have tried changing the default dimensions "Locate Wall Dimensions At" from Main Wall Layer to Surface but, so far as I can see, this makes no difference to any measurement. What's the difference?

room dims are from the sheetrock.

Interior dims go to studs for framers so will be 1" longer than room dims if each wall has1/2" sheetrock

room dims are generic for people looking at plans do decide if they want the plans.

Interior dims are for construction

I cant seem to find how to make the wall build tool account to exterior material on the ends.  So if want a 26" wall exterior corner to exterior corner the system is not adding the wall end of material (stucco)

What am I missing?

The solution is above in my response.

And almost always best to start a new thread when asking about almost anything. You are asking about Exterior Dimensions not Interior Dimensions.

Been struggling with this for a couple days... I'm sorry but I do not see a solution in your response.  I don't understand what I am missing.  I have tried every dimension setting it allows me to and I cant get it to work as it says it will.

1-open default settings

2-double click dimension

3-under walls; select surfaces

Do I have that correct?
