Decorative-Fake Gambrel Roof - How to?

Hello! I'm new to Home Designer and HomeTalk. My house, which I've just begun to render, has a typical full gable roof with a decorative gambrel style roof ledge. I am able to make a gambrel roof in HD Architectural, but I can't figure out how to essentially make a full footprint and height "dormer". I could punt and just work with full gable roof since the decorative gambrel style ledge has no impact on the interior, but I'd like to render the house fully if possible. I have tried starting with a gambrel roof and adding a dormer based on instructions on the site, but I couldn't make the exterior walls align with the first floor walls as they would need to in this case. I'd appreciate suggestions for how to draw this roof style. Thank you.

John

I think DJP might have misunderstood what you are asking.

You say that you want to make the exterior walls of the dormer, align with the first floor walls,
but keep the roof overhang edge/soffit  (that you refer to as a ledge).
Is that what you are asking?

As Rookie65 said, HDA does not have manual roof capability.

But, HD Architectural can do this, but not automatically, or easy.
It requires a work-around that can be confusing and frustrating,

especially for someone new to the software.
