Westhousing 0 Posted November 14, 2019 Hello, Is there a way to measure the head clearance on a stair case? I need my opening on the 2nd story to be as small as possible but need to make sure the head clearance is enough for code. Any suggestion on how to get this measurement? Thanks! Rookie65 45 Posted November 14, 2019 Do a section cut through the stairs. Then you can manually dimension from the tread to the opening above, as long as you have created a stairwell. I find the "point to point" measuring works best, especially if you draw a line from the nose of each tread in the area you need to measure.
