dormer without roof overhang in front

Recommended Posts

Hello HomeTalk Users!

I have a problem with a  special kind of "dormer" (home designer pro, osx).

The dormer should look like in this picture, that means in front of the dormer should be no roof (overhang). The roof should only be on the left and right side of the dormer.

It should NOT look like this typical auto floating dormer, that means with a roof overhang in front.

Inside the second floor it should look like this screenshot,

that means only free space and no other walls inside.

Thanks ahead for every solution:-)

P.S.: Sorry, but english is not my first language

I see you said Pro, but answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding this info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on, then see mine for an example) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

With Pro, you can draw in the roof manually.

Don't use a dormer -- make a room and raise the ceiling.

Explode the dormer and then edit the roof.

Hello Eric,

thanks for your advice, I activated my signature:-)

I read this post

But I don't think that this solution fit my needs, because of the additional attic/room walls.

When I make a room and raise the ceiling, I have room walls inside the second floor, that I don't want.

What I need is an empty second floor with a "dormer" without any walls inside.

Hello Eric,

in which help, the HomeDesigner-help pages?

I watched there but don't find what you mean.

Can you maybe send a direct link?

Thanks ahead.
