flt505 Posted May 9, 2015 Share Posted May 9, 2015 Home Designer 9.0 Build 9.6.1.1 Does anyone know if any of the "Sample Floor Plans" has a Gazebo that can be Copied and Pasted? . Someone had found an Arched Doorway ahile back and it would be nice to find a Gazebo. . Kbird1 Posted May 10, 2015 Share Posted May 10, 2015 the Polygon/Octagon Deck tool should get it done for you , you'll need to turn on post to beam , one the wall's and give the deck room a roof but shouldn't be too hard assuming you have the polygon deck tool? Jo_Ann Posted May 10, 2015 Share Posted May 10, 2015 My HDA10 'TEMPLATES' folder has several sample plans that contain gazebos (backyard retreat, blue cottage, gazebo, and octagonal deck). flt505 Posted May 10, 2015 Author Share Posted May 10, 2015 Thanks David, the manual procedure worked perfectly. only question is what if i want a 12' width? what should each side be roughly to start with. the tutorial uses 6' per side and that gives about 14'5" width. i want to start with "width" instead of feet per side. i haven't tried to figure it out, i'm sure i just need to play with it a little to figure it out. I know version 10 did, it does all this in about 5mins , if you want it 12' wide set the radius to side distance to 72" . If you don't have the polygon deck tool and have to do it manually then the walls would each be 59 5/8" long each according to the Polygon Deck Tool in my version. these are the plans Jo_Ann mentioned Gazebo Plan Templates.zip The "templates" folder is in My Docs>HD Data folder> however the "Samples" Folder is wherever you installed HD to , usually C:\programfiles>HD>Samples M. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Elovia Posted May 10, 2015 Share Posted May 10, 2015 An octagon of any size can be made in a few motions. Caveat ... the instructions below work in Pro. I'm not sure how well they translate to lesser expensive titles. Draw a square room using either walls or rails. For a gazebo, you'd want to use rails. Set the cross dimensions to be as desired, but make sure that all four sides are the same length. Next, group select all four sides and use the transform/replicate tool to make 1 copy and rotate it 45 degrees. Use the break wall tool at all intersections and delete all of the outer corners. Add a doorway, and change the rails to be post to beam. Build a roof (if one isn't already done automatically). Customize as needed.
