  1. Here's how the plan would look with the main floor and foundation. I labeled the end walls that were set to Gable; hope this helps.
  2. In most cases, you would always start with the main first floor. Then, you build the foundation and other floors using the first floor as your design anchor point and its structural elements.
  3. You might start with the first floor and foundation. On the first floor, set your end walls to gables and the define the garage room type. For the foundation, use the option ‘grade beams on piers’, it will ask about your garage setting, try something like 36” for the min. garage height. You will then likely need to manually adjust the foundation to your specific needs. Now build a 2nd floor, adjust the living space to only be in the center of the structure.

    Hide Cursor

Makes sense for the print screen cursor. On recording video, there is no way to hide the cursor in Home Designer. Have you tried using the program's 3D Walkthrough path tool to record the video?

    Hide Cursor

Kristine, I often use a screen capture tool like you. I first move my cursor to the side of the screen so it cannot be seen, then I press print screen to capture the Home Designer view w/o the cursor included.
  6. Can you post your Home Designer plan?
  7. You might start with this knowledge article on a One and a Half Story Roof https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00358/automatically-building-a-one-and-a-half-story-roof.html
  8. You should be able to build this roof using Home Designer Architectural 2025.
  9. There is a bonus library of Materials Accent Wall Paneling
  10. I could not download your plan. You might see if this story and half article helps - it involves building a 2nd floor. Here’s an example:
  11. A Gambrel roof can easily be created with Home Designer. If you want to customize the framing rafters or trusses with any curve to it, you will find that Chief Architect Premier will be the best software to handle the complexities. You can give our sales staff a call for further information.
  12. You could use the 'remove surface' tool and expose the various layers. It would need to be done from the standard 3D view (not framing 3D view)
  13. In the deck wall, on the Rail Style panel, there is a 'post to beam' setting; and on the Rail panel the size of bean. In addition, in the deck room itself, is the option to include/exclude a roof overhead.
  14. You should be able to build that roof in Home Designer Pro; you might start with the automatic roof; then, if needed use the manual roof tools for specifics.
  15. There’s probably not an easy way to do that in Home Designer Pro. In Chief Architect Premier, you could use the curved ceiling tool; or a 3D solid for the barrel ceiling.
  16. Here’s one way you could do this: -make a copy of your contours -convert that copy to a ‘terrain curb’ and make them 1” square; these will follow the terrain
  17. You can display door labels e.g., 3080 for a 36 x 80” door; then, use dimensions to add as you need. Below are temporary dimensions when you click on a door they display.
  18. Can you post the plan. And what version are you using?
  19. There are two sample plans with sloped lots you might take a look at to see how they were done. Chief Architect Sample Plans: Grandview Lake Point They are Chief Architect plans; you may want to download the trial version to review them. Most of this can be done in Home Designer Pro.

    ICF Framing

Home Designer Pro has an ICF wall type. You can also customize the wall's layers to your specific needs.
  21. floridauk, yes these objects can be ungrouped with the "explode architectural block" tool. I'm using Suite 2024.
  22. Serviteur, if you are after the other roof planes to match at 35 deg. You can use the join roof planes tool. It will need to be repeated on the opposite side. See if that works.
