Create a new plan in Pro 2020, select default style and you get room types including bonus, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, bedroom 3 and others. Select another style under the home style templates such as colonial and I don't see the "new' room types. After doing some further digging, I don't see any way to ADD room types to a current template (plan). You can rename or edit current room types, you just can't add additional ones as you can with Premier. I think maybe these additional new room types may have been meant to be added to the current templates (beyond the default one) but for some reason were not. The documentation for 2020 does not list the new room types which contributes to my thought in the last sentence. I don't see the "new" room types under the default style in Pro 2019.

There does seem to be a disconnect somewhere. The homedesigner site offers to sell goggles for that very purpose. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/360-viewer/ https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/addon/#vr-offer

You don't need McAfee. Uninstall it as you can always put it back. Run HD multiple times. If HD continues to work, then McAfee is the problem. Windows 10 has Windows Defender Security built in, and will take over once any 3rd party app is removed. Often the security suites from ISP's are behind. If may be that the free one from ATT is not supported by the Windows 10 Fall Creators update.

Marshawn, Here is the list of Apple computers and which GL version they support. Your computer must be over 7 years old. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202823 You could try downloading the free trial and see if it works. I ran into this when I went from Pro 2017 to Pro 2018. My PC laptop at the time would NOT work. I think the Mac version was more forgiving, but I might be "mis remembering". My perceived performance really did not change going from 2017 to 2018. Your other choice is to get Pro 17.

Per Chiliwi, tick (check) the box to "Separate Trim and Materials on Each Side". You can now turn off (uncheck) casing on both sides of the doorway between estar and comedor.

I have to agree with CA. Editing the standardized manufacturer database does not sound like a good idea to me. What happens the next time you update the Library catalogs? Does it overwrite your edit? Probably. Does it perhaps corrupt the update? Maybe. You create "Behr new color de jour number 4" and add it to your personalized manufacturer catalog. If that color is then added to the CA distributed manufacturer database, what happens? Too many downsides. The manufacturer database should be the same for everyone, which it currently is (out of date as it may be). My question would be more along the lines of, what is the update process/timeline for the manufacturer database? In the meantime, place the customized objects in the user library and use the filter function. I realize this is not what you want, just my 2 cents.

Hint: look under 3D, Camera View Options, Check Toggle Reflections. But reading the guide or using the knowledge base is a good idea.

Hey Jo_Ann, how did you come up with the finished ceiling height of 8" for the 3rd floor? It works, and I was wondering how you got there. Thanks!
-
khmunroe, I am using Pro, and did this by grabbing the roof plane over your nook (each side independently), locking the pitch and adjusting the ridge top height. This was not a finished effort on my part. Architectural I don't believe allows you to edit roof planes. Not sure it's worth the effort for the nook. The nook juts out into the garage roof, and will naturally trap leaves and water with the 90 degree angle. And the window frame is cut by the roof, although you could move that. How about a bay/ box window instead? You can do that it in Architectural i think, and the angle for drainage would be better. Just an idea. You may be trying to mimic an existing building.

Chiliwi, I see what you did there. "..Tick the check box next to "Separate Trim and Materials on Each Side". You should now be able to independently change the Interior/Exterior Casing details". Doing that will "ungreyout" the exterior checkbox on an interior doorway. I still don't know how the software determines which side of an interior doorway is the interior and which the exterior. Maybe it should be "InteriorA" and "InteriorB"? I think this is just a reuse of code for both interior doors and exterior doors. Thanks for pointing out the ability to easily have one side cased and one not. Unfortunately Acropolis never posted a plan. I could not determine if he meant doorway (opening only, no door) or a actual hinged door, and what exactly the problem was. My experience has been if a doorway is uncased, it's uncased on both sides. But that's just my experience. Good call.

Spokeshave, you have not "closed" your building. Evidence of that is the roof only over 1/2 of the "building". Just close the gap in the wall in the short term and your roof will rebuild and the grass will go away. Easy novice mistake.

The differences between 2017 and 2018 can be found at the link below. ttps://www.homedesignersoftware.com/whats-new/#whats-new-summary I HIGHLY suggest you download the trial version. The video requirements are higher for 2018 than 2017. You can keep your 2017 install untouched while using the 2018 trial. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/trial.html?product=pro

Suggestion: Download the 2018 trial and you can preview the library and decide for yourself. There are 112 items in that library.

Not entirely sure what the question is but I will take a stab at it. When you have created a camera view, it may be rendered in different ways, Standard, Vector, Glass, etc. If you are in the 2D plan view, the icon is greyed out because it is irrelevant (no rendering is possible). You don't say what program you are using, but it really does not matter in this case.

Elmerfudd, Just for kicks I installed Pro 15 on a Mac 10.9.5 virtual machine. Created a deck area. Changed the plank direction, no problem. Installed Home Designer Architect 2014 on my win10 machine. It automatically marked the enclosed area created by the deck railing tool as a deck. Changed the plank direction to 37.5 degrees, no problem. So whatever the problem is, it's not endemic to the program itself. There "might" be a problem with your installation. You could check for a software update. The support site has an archive for the older versions. If the plan says the plank direction has been successfully changed, but the camera does not reflect that, then you might have a video driver redraw issue. Save the newly changed plan with the 90 degree plank angle, and close the entire program. Reopen the plan and check your camera. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/update-archives.html

Chiefusersm, There are 84 videos listed for Suite. Go to the page link below and scroll down to Suite. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/videos/ Many if not all of the videos have notifications as to which product they pertain to. If you are seeing grass, it sounds like the building was not closed, i.e. the outside walls did not meet somewhere. Try making a simple box. If the building is closed, then you should get an automatic roof by default. No roof? Then it's not closed.
-
Go to the Room Specification for the deck. Go to the Deck option, Check the Plank direction. Uncheck automatic, and enter 90 degrees. The framing is automatically changed to match the plank direction, not the other way round. This works in Pro 2018. I can't remember if that option exists in 2015, so take a look.

Go to Help, View Online Help Videos. I would start with the basic roof video and work up. A lot depends on which HD product you have.

If you cannot replace your card (say you have a notebook), maybe you can get CA to back rev you to 17. I used HD 17 Pro just fine with GL 3.1 on a 5 year old HP notebook.

Delete a Mac application by dragging the app from the applications folder to the trash. The app must be closed. You will have to authenticate when prompted. Once in the trash, you can empty the trash to reclaim drive space.. The HD application data is in your documents folder. You can trash that too. Be careful, your saved library items are in those folders. Make sure you migrate what you want before trashing the old ones.

Brian, I think I found a workaround. If you can open the plan with the 2017 program, open the build roof specification and UNCHECK auto roof. Save the plan with a new name. I successfully opened the newly saved plan and the roofs looked right in 2018. Hopefully this will work for you in Architectural as well. CoeurDAlene_-_Riverstone_rebuild_off_2018-_5.zip

Jo_Ann and briancaos, I think I remember now why I went from Architectural 2014 to Pro 2015. Having two high shed walls on opposite ends of a building does not make a lot of sense to me for a single roof plane. But that is indeed the case with the Funkis plan. And it works for 2017 but not 2018. I followed Jo_Anns suggestion to remove the high shed gable wall from the bath, and just let auto rebuild do the rest. Since I am using Pro 2018, that's about as close as I am going to get to Architectural 2018. The second story roof amazingly is fixed but the side 1st floor roof is now two planes (at least with Pro 2018). I tried removing the high shed gable from the living room too and things went really bad. Perhaps this is just another difference between Pro and Architectural. Kudo's to Jo_Ann for finding the high shed gable walls in the first place. I am glad this is just a hobby for me!

Jo_Ann, you are correct. Sorry. I stand by not enough coffee. I have found some official sample plans have weird anomalies, such as soffits (or what I THINK are soffits) where you can't remove them, but they are there. I do believe the underlying video display software is vastly different from 2017 to 2018.
-
Brian, when opened in 2018, I noticed the 2 soffits in the Master Bedroom closet were now above the ceiling. One of the new features as I understand it in 2018 is the ability to have different heights in rooms without resorting to soffits. Short Ceilings for Rooms within Larger Rooms. Create plant shelves, shorter closets, or other rooms that have a lower ceiling than the greater space and control the ceiling platform and materials automatically. Anyway, I used the dialog box for each soffit to bring it below ceiling height, and checked the interior view and did not see a problem. I then just extended the still existing roof plane over main house, and then the side plane. I then used the break line tool in roof planes to "cut out" the corner above the master bath. Whoops, left an unneeded attic wall. Removed it. Funkis_3_2018.zip
