Looking over the new features in 2017, I think this one has changed. "Paint One Wall. Quickly change the material on the surface of a single wall in a room." If I'm reading this right, the Material Painter can now be used to change the materials on a single wall, instead of the whole room.

This forum is for the less advanced Home Designer version. You probably want to post X8 trial version questions on ChiefTalk instead.

No Layer Sets or Annotation Sets. There's a comparison on the website at: https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/chief-architect/
-
If you look at the link I posted earlier, the end of the article has some information on contacting the company's Technical Support department with Message Log and System Information files and they can probably do more troubleshooting with you based on that data, and then you can post back here with an update.

I would suggest rotating the floor plan first, so that you get most of the walls at standard angles (you can have problems with wall connections if walls aren't truly parallel/perpendicular to one another) and then set the Wall Angle in the dialog itself (if you override with Control or turning off Angle Snaps, you can end up with crazy 90.1124984 angled wall nonsense that just causes a headache down the line).

KB-00112: The selected page size is not supported Print Size LimitationsHome Designer Essentials - 8.5" x 14" Home Designer Interiors - 12" x 18" Home Designer Suite - 12" x 18" Home Designer Architectural - 12" x 18" Home Designer Pro - 18" x 24" (ARCH C)

Yes, but you can't export or import them from one plan to another.

Same solution as suggested previously. KB-00888: Importing 3D Symbols From the article: "If the symbol is not at the correct orientation when imported, such as is on its side rather than upright, then you will need to modify the original file in SketchUp, save it, and then import the modified version of it in to Home Designer."

Thirding that the problem is likely your video card. Is it a real video card with dedicated video memory, or an integrated Intel chipset that is sharing memory with your computer? There's a section in the following article on adjusting the Render Preferences that you should check out, since you say your driver is already up to date. KB-00897: Troubleshooting 3D Display Problems - Adjusting Render Options

Make sure the files are in a normal image format (JPG, GIF, PNG). If attaching a plan file, try zipping it first. Maybe try using a different web browser.

Is there an iphone app that will track and save all the x,y,z coordinates?
katalyst777 replied to traveyj7103's topic in Q&A
I think most just model terrain in the software itself using the terrain tools, rather than try to import from another program, so I'm not sure if you'll get any specific feedback here for a particular iPhone app (at least, no one did the last time this question was asked). I would still guess though that you should just make sure that it supports exporting one of the file formats that Home Designer Suite can import. Maybe consider posting over on ChiefTalk too? -
It means that you've defined all of your rooms as the "Attic" room type, maybe for the purposes of generating the roof a certain way? You should be able to reopen each room's Specification dialog and change it to something else if you don't want it being defined as the "Attic" type. I never saw the point of the "Space Planning" box things. So much easier to just draw in the walls you want where you want them and make adjustments that way.

David - It sounds like that isn't something you yourself created to be shared, but rather it was only available with your Premier license as content from the company that they intentionally don't offer for the less advanced versions?

There are shapes, including Cylinders, in the Library Browser.

Your options are . . . To import an image into the floor plan view like this. Create your own in the software using the CAD and Text tools. Another thought is that someone on ChiefTalk probably already has one created that they'd be willing to share. Try posting over there under "Symbols & Content."

Simpler way to draw a shed dormer from point to point?

KB-00367: Drawing a Shed Dormer Manually -
Not really . . . you can't add windows/doors/etc or change wall/flooring materials etc to a static symbol like this, that's why having the right walls type definitions/floor and ceiling structure etc are going to be important.
-
I don't think you can group select and edit all the walls at once in anything below Pro, same goes for editing the wall types, you'd have to go one wall at a time to change their exterior/interior materials in Suite.

According to the Comparison Matrix of Home Designer programs, only Pro has the ability to: Customize construction methods for walls, floors, ceilings, and foundations. Specify wall layers, floor structure, platform height, mudsills, framing methods, and more.
-
Create two layout files. You'd have to upgrade from Pro to the Chief Architect Premier version to get multi-page layouts in a single file.
