    Zero out X/Y Axis

you hit the nail on the head Rod , you must use 2 CAD lines the you can click on one and then open the temp . dimension and set the distance , use 4 CAD lines so you can measure left/right and up down easily see if this helps............ in this case I used it to set my PL angle at 75' from the front _HD Basic House_Terrain Plan.plan PS forgot to mention that 0,0 is approximately the bottom LH Corner of the new plan window . draw you 1st wall down there then use the Fill window button to center everything.
  2. Another thought , if you don't need the curve , since you have Pro is you can use a decorative Truss and a roof spire on 3D WH ( have alook at his other models too) https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=92732459a774dea18c3e6fce298c562
  3. It looks likes what would be part of a tudor-esque (tudor) design, though I can't think of an easy way in HD to do the curved horizontal element, though I may have seen the Finial element somewhere in the library , likely in Millwork? you could make the curve in Sketchup and import it or you might get lucky on 3D Warehouse. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=tudor&backendClass=entity
  4. you can use the straight 1/2 wall Tool , uncheck the Room's roof and ceiling to get rid of those and then use Soffits to make the Top cap. this one is square but should work the same for an L-Shape. Make one soffit the right width and thickness and to the longest measurement , then just copy and paste another 5-6 of the same and slide them into place with the Ctrl key resizing as you go , easy cos they will "snap to" each other. M.
  5. increase the ceiling height of the "Porch Room" .......wall heights are controlled by roof heights in all HD software.
  6. A quick guess since I don't have your manual handy is that you built the house before the chimney and the roof is already on so the walls wont build up through it, you may need to delete the roof and rebuild or simply , since you have Pro cut a hole in the roof so you can let the chimney through. M.
  7. quick look at your pic and I think the window is because you are trying to place it into a attic autowall or at the ceiling joist line of Level 2 by the looks . so you might need a 2 1/2 storey? plan to get that can't really see the other issue...
  8. your pic is too small to see the details well , post pics of individual windows and dialog boxes so we can read them easier..... did you run thru the KB article Keith posted above in post #3 and see if you missed a setting? M.
  9. you need to use the Soffit tool , it can do only flat trim on a slope though ie up the gable , you can apply a molding however the molding wont slope despite the Trim piece sloping. This Tutorial on Tudor boards should lead you in the right direction , I used to use soffits for Water Tables ( belly bands) too but found there is another way for Bellybands too , see the other tut. below. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00902/ Belly band / Water table Tut. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00891/

    loft?

this should help you get the loft/mezzanine area easily http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00210/ M.
  11. Guess I missed it in the Title? but that's why we recommend you put it in your Signature Sorry I don't have 2014 so I can't post them here for you, at least I don't know if they are compatible . you might try downloading the program from your digital locker again if you didn't do that on the reinstall. Actually cant hurt to try I guess Version 10 might work , 2015 might not with a warning about coming from a newer version. Pro 10 File Profile.plan Pro 2015 File Profile.plan
  12. From your description it is a 2 storey building correct? not sure why the link to the 1 1/2 storey tutorial is all? - 2 storey structure with the Room set to "Open Below" should do it Your Roof will be +/- 55° to get the 3.3 m height you need I had a quick play but didn't play with the Beams as I wasn't sure in you meant ceiling beams or exposed Rafters? or are they really heavy timber trusses? like these http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00417/ not sure if you can open this to see settings but here is the plan too. Barn Plan _R1.plan
  13. If you are asking questions here R. it is a good idea to include you tilte and the Verison as many answers depend on it .... eg Suite 2015 , you can also ad it to your Profile in you signature as most users do. I don't know your version so , am not sure what templates you should have but in your HD Data Folder in My Documents you should have a Folder called Templates and it should contain 50-100 items. the default templates are called Profile.Plan (Us/Imperial) and ProfileM.Plan if metric. If they are there then I would assume the File called Home Style Templates.dat is corrupt, so one with the same version could send you a copy or post it to the thread , otherwise you would need to open a support ticket via the Online Support Link on the 1st page of the Forums near the bottom.
  14. Thx Kat. I don't have 2015 but I checked the website for a bicycle/bike before I answered originally and found nothing , I guess the Website is structured the same way as your 2015 Library , which as you mentioned is totally reorganised now though I don't know if it includes ALL old libraries
  15. hmmm well that is not what you asked in your 1st question , you asked about adding a 2nd floor to a second building , but I digress.... Copy and paste and copy and paste/hold work just like any other windows program and are explained on pages 81- 84 of YOUR manual not the Pro one. Have you downloaded the User Guide? (Help Menu>UserGuide download) and worked your way through the Basic tutorials? Another good area to get tips is the KnowledgeBase (KB) , use the search bar to find your question here: http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/database.html The Mechanism you are asking about is exactly what this Forum is , a place you can come and ask questions about any issues you are having, I am not sure home much better this Community could be ? though I think you maybe under the miscomprehension that this Forum is Run/Moderated by Chief Architect's Paid Staff ? this Forum and the other 3 here are for End Users just like you and the only answers you get are from Other End Users "in the know". If you have the current Year's version of the program you can also open a Support Ticket on the Company's Website via the Online Support Link on the front page of the Forum near the bottom, however I think you will receive a much faster answer here. Perhaps start another Thread , and we can all try this again . M.
  16. Strange cos when I did searches there on bike or bicycle I got nothing, same with the Plane and helicopter and the other items I mentioned above but as you say they are there..... Wonder if it is my IE settings effecting the search?

    Plan Revisions

Yes Chief, has a Revision Cloud in the CAD Menu. The CAD ARC method works easily , though now I think of it it may make it more difficult to select other items , so do it after everything is done or possibly turn off the CAD layer in Display Options so you cant select the Cloud by accident --this may have side effect too if you have other CAD items in the same vicinity.... M.

    Plan Revisions

Buy Professional Software ? kidding...... - Use Text with Arrow and CAD Arcs --pretty easy if all you need is this..... or other options ( not as easy) : - Rectangular Polyline turned into arcs with CAD arc tools/breakline tool - Curved Splines? M.
  19. Hi J. a lot of the Issues at least on the Main House are due to the fact that you have multiple different Floor and Ceiling height Issues, every room seems to be different? , try setting them to the Default and see what happens. There is no floor in the Hall at the top of the stairwell ,use a Room divider to give the Hall its own Room Def. as hall to get the Floor back One tip especially with Suite and lower Titles is to build ALL of each level as you go , I see the missing Workshop and Cathedral Rm on the LH end but the issue is trying to add extra floors and the roof as Suite only have auto roofs , turn it back on and you could destroy the other parts of the house. Same issue with the basement area of the Workshop , rebuilding the Basement will cause it to be deleted and rebuilt for the whole "site". At least I don't think Suite has manual basement options? Let me know how you get on. M.
  20. they had a big trade show in Vegas last week ,so might have been understaffed? I'd put another ticket in....
  21. I am going over the PDF now , email sent. M.
  22. Actually I think you are right Jo_Ann .... I think I ran into this issue about two yrs ago on a house I did, i'll see if I can find the plan. So you haven't found a "Workaround" yet ? probably cant be done then !
  23. I'll download the Plan Jeremiah and have a look , PM me your email address when you see this. Mick Do you have Images of what it is "supposed" to look like , or PDF Plans etc , not sure what the floating triangle roof is all about for 1.
  24. Holding the Ctrl Key down as you move it doesn't work ? posting the .plan file will help ,we can open it locally then and see what settings etc you have used.... M.
  25. HD sees Railings as Walls ,so the only thing that worked for me was the Wall Break Tool to separate the landing and Stair Railings but it took some fiddling around. Did you try the trick of making the landing railing different from the stair Railing eg make it 65mm in stead of the 50mm ? M.
