Now that I look at your plan RP , I am wondering what the issue is actually as it looks pretty close , I fixed the wall on the RH end and specified the porch area as a porch , made a few fixes we discussed earlier in the thread (making attic walls invisible) , and making some of your railing not invisible with beams, turned off the Ceilings and it looks pretty good once I added the stairs and a slab to make it look like a porch . (slab so posts appear to be on porch not overhanging it's edge) you may need to explain again what is wrong in the Roof Tester plan you posted?
-
I never opened RP's plan till now actually but the pics in #22 show it at 45° to the main house , here's the measurement for you if you want to have a play?
-
I wasn't aware of that video actually, but other than the curved ceiling I don't think I saw too much you couldn't do.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON3IuUlBtJk That is a pretty basic situation , however you do see her turn off the Auto Build in the Roof DBX and then move the walls as needed under the Roof once it was built. She would run into an issue if she turned the Roof Build DBX back on to fix or do another roof somewhere else in the Project, eg a detached garage , which She doesn't explain, as the rest of that Project appears to be complete. The advantage in CA or Pro is that you have manual Roofs too which can be used afterwards if needed.

I just checked and both plans above download and open fine ...... perhaps try again... That isn't my house on the left , ........ you been playin' *** @ Jo.......I think they were just practicing in My plan Jo_Ann ,which is why it isn't like the earlier house's posted.

weird things with foundations often mean the walls aren't all aligned vertically ,especially if you have a roof build of a foundation... M.

left click + HOLD = place camera HOLD + Drag = view direction (no drag = no camera) + point at end of drag line = pivot point of camera watch the video above with this in mind....
-
Images are never to scale and Kat is right you need to be in Vector View not Standard view , see the Pics below but I think to need to refer to the Reference Manual as switching views is pretty basic but under Defaults>Camera>General Camera you can also set the normal default View for Ortho or Perspective to be Vector. it always helpful to post pics of your efforts or pics of the DBX settings etc .....just saying something is too small doesn't really help us or you....but I normally send Elevs. at 1/4" unless the House is really big, try it just resend at 1/4 " after deleting the layout box with the 1/8th version. M.
-
you will need to explain a bit more your process of getting to that point , best way is usually to send to layout in Pro at 1/8" then Print from there. M.

like David , a clearer explanation may help figure out what you are doing but with David's explanation on taking a view and this quick video you should get it ok http://screencast.com/t/qhi7EVwv

All the best to you too Keith , hope you are feeling better , and able to enjoy your favourite Hobby Hopefully you can save up for the latest version or get family to put if for your Xmas Present this yr , as every year you don't upgrade it gets more expensive to do so. there is no rush for Win10 , it is free for 1 yr , so you don't need to be a "beta tester" for them if you don't want to be....I let my Win8.1 Notebook update as I hate 8.1 and it is much more like Win7 "under the hood" than I thought it would be especially with "Tablet Mode" off. Same User ID and Password at ChiefTalk Keith , plenty to read and Learn too...always a Daily Visit ( or 3) for me... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/7-general-q-a/

Scott , you didn't reply to my last PM , but I have put the Files on my OneDrive Account instead of emailing and I tried sending you an email with the Link to them, let me know if it doesn't work. Nice Small house BTW , I'd be tempted to have 9ft on the 1st floor so it "feels" bigger and use a 42-48" knee wall on the second (14' studs or 3 1/2 sheets ply) so you can use all the space up there and push furniture like chest of drawer out to the walls anywhere, and not bump your head on the ceiling every time you sit up in bed of course.....it's not like you have height restrictions like a mobile Small house might. if you use invisible walls to make the roof build where you want it and what size , as I mentioned in post #21 , you can have almost anything you want, and is one of Jo's favorite tricks too. After turning off auto roof build in the roof build DBX , you then either delete the invisible walls or draw over them or convert them to railings ( if your version allows it) ,or add walls if wanted for your front door bumpout ,windows etc under the roof. only issue is you can't turn Roofs on again so you need a plan going in. here are 2 plans I did in HDA 9 (2007?) so anyone should be able to open them , showing the 1st stage (RP), then I did a save as (RP2), as a backup and continued with the Project in the new plan, these should give you a good idea how to use this trick I hope. Yep hope you are feeling better Keith , just been in myself too actually ,still got a Holter Monitor strapped on actually. So far I haven't read of any major issues with Windows 10 , I have been waiting to see if there were any snafu's but the Upgrade Utility has cleared my PC same as it did David's , though I wasn't too concerned as everything I had read points to the fact that if it worked under Win7 it is almost guaranteed to Work in Win 10. CA has stated they only support 2016 on win 10 but that was expected anyway.... M.

assuming in Suite Soffits can have Mouldings that should work if a little finicky....
-
according to the Product Matrix and the KB Article below that is not an available option in Suite ...only Interiors, HDA and HD Pro. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/product-chooser.html https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00887/applying-moldings-to-cabinets.html

You don't need to Zip the Floor Plan file , what you posted above appears to be a desktop shortcut to a file in the ARCH 2015 Folder but not the plan file zipped.

There is more info in this thread about it from a few weeks ago https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1233-permit-requirements/?hl=%2Bcross+%2Bsections

No this Forum is the only area that Files maybe transferred/up loaded but since you and I only have version 10 , you and I (and Jo-ann actually) are likely the only ones who could share Files as we can't use Files from any newer versions. Which is why Jo_Ann and I also run the Trial Versions (to open newer plans) 2015 still works on XP I think from what Jo_Ann said , She is in the same boat as you....no idea if Sales would sell you the 2015 version now 2016 is out , but it couldn't hurt to ask and explain the situation perhaps. The Newer Versions longer come with the Sample Plans BTW PM me your email and I will zip what Samples I have for you but Eric is right , you will learn way more by "doing", and attempting stuff , it's why I like helping others here on the Forum it forces me to learn things especially when I don't have a Project of my own to work on. M.

Yes both I and Jo_Ann (aka Ms Ninja) wanted to look at you actual Plan File (floor plan) not more pics , though those help. Make sure the Plan isn't open in HD and then just attach the .plan file to the Forum post the same way you are attaching the Pics. if needed click on the 2nd link in my forum signature below for a Pic and plan posting how too... though I am not sure if Jo can open a 2016 version Plan?

Version 10 is now 7-8 yrs old and I have been running it just fine on Windows7 for as long as I've had Win7. The Pro Version is not the Suite Version , the Names then are the same as now. You will only be able to open files made in Version 10 or Older. The files with a M are the Metric Templates Files , but they should still open regardless , are you getting error messages? There are 60 plans in my Templates Folder ....maybe a diff. between Pro and Suite ? I am not aware of any Site other than this one where Files can be Shared I think this will be the last yr to upgrade V.10 and still get a rebate , though currently it is only $30 on Suite. M.

JO is right RP , that's why we ask you to post YOUR PLAN as there are too many variables , just cos we can do it fairly easily in our Test Plans , things like heights ,widths , roof pitch etc all make a difference. But you can use invisible walls to get the roof shape you want , then turn off Auto build Roof (forever) then you can add the walls ,windows etc etc back in and the Roof won't change shape , but because you can't turn roofs on ever again you need to make sure turning it off is the last thing you do with roofs in the Plan. JO was right lots of finagling to make this look good without Roof Tools .....

there is a Bug on single level homes that crops up now and then due to the way Rafters are hard programmed to form a roof and cut off the wall, if they hit a wall within an inch or two of the Top plates. Mick.

all we did was place a wall break in the Railing and the section of wall in front of the Front Door we marked "Full Gable" and the other part is left at default (hip), in my case at 4/12 pitch the LH end of the porch is left as a Hip (default) , in my case at 5/12 the RH end of the Porch is marked "Full gable" in my case too if you don't want the gable wall that is possible too , just delete the Attic wall that makes the gable wall (sometimes you need to delete it twice in a row and agree to error message), then set the porch room to have no ceiling and use Soffit for ceiling instead.
-
I don't think the gable is Open it just has a very long roof overhang .... Jo's pic shows it longer than mine , or do you want no gable wall ?
-
nice to see you back Jo..... yes definitely possible I decided to try too...
