Download the trial and see for yourself. No one here knows how you are using the software, or even what "Home Designer" you are using (Suite, Architectural or Pro).

Open a new plan and draw a roof plane.
Build roof framing if needed.
Display framing.
Open a roof rafter and review the settings. Make a change -- maybe make it 6" instead of 1 1/2" wide.
Or, go to your framing defaults and change them -- rafter size and spacing. Then do the above.
All you are doing is letting the program build your sloped framing. Copy the framing, delete the roof plane, paste the framing back.

I made a roof plane. But how to convert that to beam or frame then to beam.

Someone will need to look at your plan file. If you had attached it along with your question, I would have looked and probably made you a video.

Is this possible?
Yes.

You cannot simply slope a beam.
See this thread for one idea: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/9129-struggling-to-make-tapered-steel-posts-and-beams/
You could draw a roof plane, build framing after changing the framing to match your design, then copy the framing, delete the roof plane and paste the framing back.
A Sloped Soffit might also work -- read in Help or search for more info.

I think my problem is that I am making the "wall" incorrectly... I can not place a backsplash on the surface of my wall the way I am attempting this.
A backsplash needs to be drawn against a wall. What I show above is one backsplash for the web (dark color) and one for the flange (light color) -- there is no wall.
You could use a wall, but walls come with all the special properties of walls, which I would not want.

Ceiling height controls wall height -- and it does not matter if you uncheck Flat Ceiling Over This Room.
Roofs build over rooms.
With Suite, focus on the roof first. Once it's correct, you can turn off Auto Rebuild Roofs and remove the now unneeded interior walls that may have been required to make the roof build.

You say that "You can set any wall to be invisible." If so, the question is how? (If there is a way in Home Designer Pro, it is not obvious or intuitive
Open Help, search invisible. Read and you will learn.

Can you tell me more about how you are able to use the backsplash tool to follow an angle like you show in your image?
Check the articles and videos on the Home Designer website, but you are working with a polyline based object -- drag using one of the handles, place breaks etc.

Please post images directly -- no need to make a PDF of an image. This makes it easier for others as an image shows in the forum.
And if you have a question, please ask.

Could be a video card issue. Try updating your video card driver software.

Trusses are drawn manually. Draw what you need where you need.
Are you having a specific problem?

I get a message that the second dormer is too close to the other dormer.
You probably already have an incorrectly placed dormer (or dormers) on that side. Look on all levels. It will show as a gray filled rectangle.
Once you have deleted it (or them), select the existing dormer, copy/reflect about the front door to get a new one roughly positioned.
And please take just a minute and fill out your signature. Many questions require knowing what software someone is using for the correct answer.

Also for some unknown reason I now have drywall on the front exterior and siding on the interior
Select the wall, use the Reverse Layers tool.

I would love to know how to fix the gaps in the ceiling that you pointed out as well.
The ceiling in the alcove seems to be sloped in your image, but you have drawn it as flat in your model. With a sloped ceiling, it will join with the other ceiling planes and eliminate the gap.

Watch what roof edge I select when joining -- you need to select the 2 edges, not just the 2 roof planes.

is it possible to change the center landing to steps.
Not automatically (as in changing a setting). Don't use the U shaped stair tool, just draw in the sections and connect with landings.
Here is a link to a video on stairs that may help.

Any suggestions?
Problems like this are sometimes the result of out of date video card driver software, especially on Windows.
Try doing an update.
We need the plan file, not a dwg to review, and please post screen captures instead of a PDF when possible.
