PhilipBolduc
Can anyone help me figure out how to get my wrap-around porch roof to stop at the second story exterior wall? It is extending up to its peak through the second floor, making the walls vanish. I've attached my design as a zip file. Thanks! PhilipBolduc
Sorry - it is Home Designer Suite 2017. I tried the Help, Tutorials, and even a tech support phone call, but he wasn't able to fix it either, so I submitted an official ticket, which has a 48 hour turnaround. However, I'd love to get an answer today if possible so he suggested submitting my question to the on-line forum.
PhilipBolduc
It is Home Designer Suite 2017. I also attached a picture which shows the problem. Philip Bolduc House Design.zip
solver
Thanks. Go to the 2nd floor. Give all the rooms a type other than Unspecified. Make the bedrooms Bedroom, bathrooms Bathroom etc. Don't know why, but the roof builds after doing this. You also have a misplaced wall. It's visible after the roof is fixed. PhilipBolduc
Dear Solver - Wow, I see that you got yours to work, but even after naming all the rooms on the second floor (and the other floors just for good measure), then rebuilding the roofs, mine still draws the porch roof right through invisible 2nd floor walls. That second floor exterior wall cladding defect is also driving me crazy. You said it is a misplaced wall but I can't find it. I'll attach what that spot looks like on my 2nd story floor plan - the cladding gap is shown but I can't find a way to fix it. This is my first time using this software - some things are wonderful, but there are other little bugs like this that are maddening. Thanks so much for your help! PhilipBolduc
By moving my exterior wall outwards I was able to find and delete the hidden misplaced wall you mentioned, so that took care of that problem. The porch roof problem, however, still perplexes me...
solver
You might try downloading the 2018 Suite trial and see if the roof problem is fixed. Also, try redrawing the house -- just the exterior walls and see what happens. Maybe support will have an answer.
LawB10
Uncheck highshed/gable roof and roof overhang on all the walls, lower the deck ceiling height to 96".
PhilipBolduc
LawB10 thanks so much - lowering the deck ceiling height to 96" did the trick. I hadn't checked high shed or gable roof for any of the walls so that wasn't the issue. Thanks so much, I really appreciate your suggestion!
