wood grain direction

i would like to apply a wood grain to a deck board   5 1/2" wide by 42" , i want the grain to be running the length of the board  42 " . i cant come up with any soulutions to this :(  i am using it on stair threads to lay on top of the existing stair thread  (  1/16" thick ) miter  ( 45 degree ) on each end & have returns on the left & right side from the thread nosing to the next riser .  i can figure out how to make these 3 items just cant get the grain to follow :(  Help please :(

thanks for the quick reply !! i got it to work having an issue with the left & right returns , the grain is going opposite :( was just getting lazy lol & tired of reading :(now i have to figure out how to fix the grain on the stair stringers . god i love this program

Maybe try creating the tread in the direction the grain runs w/the material. Once it's set, rotate the item 90 degrees and maybe the grain will stay with it? Justa thought, haven't tried it & working on a project right now. Good luck!
