Cathedral ceiling that does not follow roof?

Recommended Posts

I have Home Designer Interiors 2016. I need to make a sort of "fake" cathedral ceiling, e.g. it looks like a regular cathedral ceiling under a gable roof but it doesn't actually follow the roof line. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

This is a common question that has been discussed recently.

Have you tried a search of the forum?

Also check out the Knowledge Base.

Hi Eric,

I have searched the forum but didnt' find an answer. Maybe I am not using the right search terms?

Thanks,

Kim

I just looked and could not find the thread I was remembering. The knowledge base was no help either.

I'm not sure it can be done using Interiors, but someone else will need to confirm.

If you don't have sloped soffits or Custom Ceiling planes , I am thinking it is not possible in Interiors , but I have Pro  so someone else will need to confirm as Eric mentioned.

I think the only other thing you might have is the Shapes in the library ... so maybe an (inverted?) wedge ?

I think you are out of options (other than the 'no ceiling over this room' option).

Only HD Pro has the ceiling plane tool.

I think only HDA and Pro have the sloped soffit option.

A wedge shape from the library could give you the ceiling plane, but...it will stick out above your roof!  :(
