  1. You will need to close Pro before you attach.
  2. I copied your data above, added a description to the first line and the import seemed to work.

    Crown Molding

@Casey4965 A couple of tips. Home Designer is not Revit or AutoCAD. For problems like this it's helpful to have a plan file to review. It just saves time, allows someone to see exactly what you have done, and prevents guessing. Try to show, or clearly describe the end result. You may not know the best way to model something. New users often lack knowledge of the different tools available, and do not understand the side effects and interrelations between the various tools and objects. Always keep the big picture in mind. In the image above, I placed two partitions and removed the crown between them. In my made up example, that was simple to do, but the method I used may or may not work for your project.

    Crown Molding

I'm not even sure what you are doing. Attach your plan file, or a simple one that demonstrates the problem and someone will have a look.
  5. You are missing some core concepts about how the program works. Understanding room definition is key to working with the program. Think about a room in a house, very broadly, it is a space defined by (usually) 4 walls. Try drawing 4 walls to create such a space. You can now select the room, and change many settings, and Auto Exterior Dimensions will work. Your wall shows a length of 2500 (you do not say how you drew the wall to that dimension), because that's how your default dimension settings work. Dimensions go to the Main Layer, but may be changed to the exterior surface in Dimension Defaults. I believe you may manually adjust individual dimensions, snapping the extension line to another point too. You should understand the Resize About settings found under Defaults>Walls>General Wall. There is a tutorial linked via the Help menu that will help you learn to work with the program. People use two methods when inputting a plan where they only have a paper copy. 1) Simply draw the exterior walls to get them in place, without exact dimensions. Then work around the plan, usually in a clockwise direction changing each wall to have the correct length. 2) Setting up their defaults, then carefully entering each wall in its correct position and to its correct length. Suggestion: Learn to work with the program and not against it. And this thread has some general information about using the forum, and some links to some self help resources.
  6. Please attach images of the problem areas.
  7. That has nothing to do with the problem. It's just annoying to me having all the automation turned on -- roofs, dimensions, framing etc. Just set the defaults and draw, or open the/a room and remove the ceiling. I've never seen this not work.
  8. Not simply. You might need to understand patterns and textures and how they differ. Elevations typically show patterns (lines) not textures, and patterns may be toggled on or off via the 3D Menu. Color may be toggled on or off via the Edit Active View tool, or there is a dedicated tool in the toolbar that by default is against the far right of the window that will also do it. You should also be able to set color off as the default in Defaults for specific camera types. This thread has some helpful links and shows how to complete your signature.
  9. Show us some images so we see what you see. Attach the plan file (close Suite first) so someone has something to troubleshoot. Please ask questions in Q&A, Tips & Techniques is where you share your tips and techniques. Still driving that Morgan?
  10. What I was referring to is this: "If you simply wish to have a single room with a common rafter vault just open that room's Specification Dialog - Structure Tab and there turn off that room's "Flat Ceiling Over this room" check box.".
  11. For many questions, someone will need to know what software you are using -- Suite, Architectural or Pro, and the year -- 2013, 2014 etc. Not all defaults are dynamic, that is, once something is drawn using the current default set, changing defaults will not change what is already there. Reread what David said above to solve your problem, and let us know your software for the best answer.
  12. You do understand none of the Home Designer products do curved roofs (except for a curved roof dormer). You can fake them with Pro, but it's tedious. And as David mentioned, with Pro, just learn the manual roof tools.

    CEILING AND FLOOR

What is "not filling in"? It's helpful to have an image (screen capture) showing the issue so we see what you see.
  14. This one shows starting without dimensions.
  15. Copy the walls involved to a new plan, close it and attach. Add some notes/arrows etc in the plan so someone knows exactly what you want. I'm not sure what the problem is. You should be able to pick up additional points off of the 3'-4 dimension string. I'm heading out to a job, but will check back later today.
  16. That was quick, and welcome to HomeTalk. A couple of tips. No need to say Chief Architect Home Designer Pro, just Pro will do, along with the year -- like Pro 2024. Images (screen captures) will let others see what you see. Often, attaching your plan file -- the actual file, and not a picture of the plan will help with suggestions. So many ways of doing things, and many times new users make changes that cause problems when trying to solve a problem. Having the plan saves lots of back and forth and guessing. I'm far from knowledgeable about dimensioning, but maybe this will get you going.

    12" wall thickness

    Then what's the problem?
  18. Your Upwork person used Chief Architect to create the model, and some of the objects, like the solar panels and the small roof on the first floor are not ones you may edit in Home Designer. Ask your Upwork worker to remove them.
  19. The Home Designer website is full of articles and videos, and the default search will also search the forum (but you can narrow the focus as I have done) , so it's a good place to start when you have a question. When I began learning the program, I drew many simple models to test an idea. It's so quick to do this, and the feedback is immediate -- you see what works and what does not. Even experienced users have problems where floor and ceiling heights vary.
  20. Understand, the program doesn't resolve issues -- you do. Start over Sometimes starting over is best. There are so many related settings and new users often make random changes trying to make something work. I'll focus on one problem, and probably the easiest to correct. You have walls in the 2nd image that seem to be showing the exterior side on the interior. You have either placed an exterior wall there, or you have changed the materials on those walls. The program doesn't know what type of wall you want, so you need to tell it. And if you want to work on fixing your plan, go to Edit>Reset to Defaults. Select All Floors and check all the boxes below.
  21. @Keefers For many questions, and this is one, knowing what software you are using is key to providing the best suggestions. Please see this topic: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?do=findComment&comment=155662
