ensodevnh
I'm having trouble figuring out why the 2nd floor walls are coming through the roof. The house has multiple wall heights, and I can't seem to figure out how to make the roof land on the top plate. Also, I apologize for not posting the plan. I can't figure out how to get the copy the project URL or attach the file.

Close the program, attach the plan file just as you did the image. Zip if needed. 39 minutes ago, ensodevnh said: The house has multiple wall heights, and I can't seem to figure out how to make the roof land on the top plate. That should happen automatically if your settings are correct and you are using the tools correctly. 40 minutes ago, ensodevnh said: I'm having trouble figuring out why the 2nd floor walls are coming through the roof. Have you manually adjusted the walls? Go to Edit>Reset to Defaults, check these options. And it's helpful to always say what product you are using -- Pro 2024 for example, and when asking about roofs (when using Pro) say if you are auto building or using the manual roof tools. ensodevnh
Thank you for your help. I'm new to the software and I'm sure that I'm probably not using it correctly. Yes, I have manually adjusted some walls. The hard part I was having was on the second floor where the hip walls on the main house 34' x 20' are only 32" and the software default was set higher than that. The other issue is in the area where the walls are coming thought the roof, I adjusted them to 8' 3" which I'm sure is causing the issue. I'm using Pro 2024. I'm auto building the roofs but then I have to manually change some from hips to gable even though I thought I had chosen gable roofs as the preset. Did you use the Reset to Defaults I show above? 57 minutes ago, ensodevnh said: on the second floor where the hip walls on the main house 34' x 20' are only 32" and the software default was set higher than that. Do you understand wall height is controlled by room ceiling height?
ensodevnh
Thanks Eric. It looks like that worked. I understand now that wall heights are controlled by ceiling heights. Another issue I'm noticing now is the section highlighted in the screenshot doesn't seem to have the roof removed on the interior. When you look at the plan in the framing overview you'll see that the roof is still visible.

ensodevnh
Thank you so much Eric. I really appreciate your help. I'll go into the plan and clean it up a little more. Your video definitely made it easier to understand what I was doing wrong.
ensodevnh
Hi Eric, Do you know how I can make the wall height in the attached screenshot 8'3" tall? Right now it's set at the default height of 32". Thanks again for your help. Latest rendition 12_10.plan Screenshot 3.pdf
ensodevnh
Actually, I'm trying to figure out how to make all of the interior walls on the second floor meet the ceiling as well. Currently they are all set at 32".
Jo_Ann
Did you learn NOTHING from the personal video that Eric did for you?
ensodevnh
Hi Jo_Ann, You seem like a nice person. Actually, when I edited the defaults for the interior walls like he suggested it made all of the interior walls extend through the roof. And when I edited the wall that I'm looking to make 8' 3" it did the same thing. Not all of us are pros with this software, it sounds that you are though. Maybe you could offer some help instead of a snarky comment. That might be more beneficial.
Jo_Ann
Not meant to be snarky, but meant to point out to you, based on the last questions you asked, you need to watch the video again.
