  1. I have home designer suite 2015. I have attached a picture of the type of raised bar I am trying to design.

    I don't see any attachment.

Seconding Jo_Ann's recommendation that you should check out the Knowledge Base articles.

  2. I have no idea if the state of California has any kind of unique wall materials, and without an image of what you're trying to describe, check . . .

Core Catalogs> Materials> Fabric and Wall Coverings> Textured

Most common ones that I use come from the folders of Bumpy, Dimpled, Orange Peel, Textured Plaster or Textured Solid.

  3. Base cabinets with no face items and a Base Molding applied to the bottom, with resized Doric columns (from the Library Browser in Millwork) stacked on top of them, and an Arched Valence (also from the Library Browser).

Plus Soffits above the Wall Cabinets on the right.

  4. thank you but i do not see how to build the roof over them?

The program will not automatically place the Corbels, nor will the roofs automatically recognize them if you place them manually.

  5. Sounds like 2017 has some options I don't have in 2016.

What "Rendering Technique" do you have active when you go to send the view?

Elevations are typically "Vector" but your description makes me think you may have switched to something else.

If you're not in Vector, can you switch to that rendering technique and then get the options Marcy suggested when sending to layout?

  6. A normal carport could be created by following the instructions in this article.

    KB-00908: Creating a Carport

In Home Designer, you're better off just finding something similar and importing it.

    KB-00888: Importing 3D Symbols

I guess it's worth mentioning that you can model your own if you upgrade to the Premier version.

  7. Like solver, I'm not totally sure that I follow quite what you're asking.

If it's about the first floor, I would probably use an arched Doorway opening, not columns to create this.

If it's about all the little railings, depending on your version (you may want to add this to your signature to avoid having to tell us each time) then you can probably just use Railings set to use Panels set to something under Architectural> Fences & Railings> Turned.

If it's not either of those things, well, then I think we're going to need more info?

  8. If you have Pro, you can try using similar steps to what's discussed in this article.

    KB-01187: Creating a Barrel Roof

However, that's a lot of work to get just right.

The Premier version has actual curved roof tools.

You can probably fake the look using something like an "Awning," but you'll have to adjust the material applied to it to be pretty small if it's corrugated like your image so that it doesn't quite look so odd when tiled across the curved surface.

  9. Layouts 101 Basics

    • Of the Home Designer programs, only Pro has layouts.

    • Go through the Layout Tutorial in the User's Guide.

    • Watch the Layouts training video.

    • Review the Layout Knowledge Base Articles such as . . .
      KB-00527: Creating a Layout
KB-01829: Resizing a Layout Title Block and Border
KB-00439: Creating a Cross Section Detail

    • Layouts in Home Designer Pro are limited to a single page, BUT you can create a new layout file for each individual page (OR you can upgrade to the Premier version that has multi-page layouts).

    • The max print size in Pro is Arch C (18" x 24"), BUT you can create a PDF with views at 1/8" scale on 11" x 17" and have a print shop double it to get 1/4" on a larger sheet (OR you can upgrade to the Premier version which doesn't have any print size limits and would let you print directly to Arch D 24" x 36").
