  1. Use the Break Wall tool to place a break on either side of the window, then select the wall segment in the middle, open its Specification dialog, go to the Roof panel, and check "Full Gable" and click OK.  Rebuild the roof after making the change if you don't have "Auto Rebuild Roofs" enabled.

  2. Can't guarantee that it will look anywhere near as good as just modeling the terrain hills/valleys/plants/etc in 3D, but I you could import the photograph as a "Stretch to Fit" material, and apply that material to the terrain.  It may get fuzzy though, depending on the quality of the photo relative to the size of your terrain.

  3. The plan definitely looks too rough to do offer any real suggestions for it at this stage.

Since it sounds like you just need to create the curved wall and windows on Floor 1 the way you want, then select the wall, go to Edit> Copy, move up to Floor 2, select Edit> Paste> Paste Hold Position.

Make sure to set the Room Type on Floor 2 as Open Below.

  4. If you upgrade to the Chief Architect Premier version, you can set up templates for that.

In Home Designer, just set up all your defaults, save the plan, and any time you want to start a new drawing, open the file you saved and then immediately do a File> Save As to give it a new name before drawing anything.

  5. Thirding what the other folks have said, the easiest/best option is just get the cabinet models as close as you can in the software itself rather than mucking about with importing.

Or, if you want to do extra work anyway, maybe post on ChiefTalk in Seeking Services and ask someone with Premier who has the KraftMaid cabinet catalog designed for Chief Architect programs to replace the cabinets with the ones you want to use, mark the plan to be able to be edited in Home Designer, and return the modified version to you.

Or, as already suggested, you can also use the free version of SketchUp to rotate the symbols before you import them in to Home Designer so that they are at the proper orientation.

  6. There's an article on the error, plus someone recently also had extra steps that they posted that Technical Support gave them.

KB-02962: Message: The program is already running. Running two or more simultaneous sessions is not recommended.

    Previous HomeTalk thread: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1942-the-program-is-already-running-running-two-or-more-simultaneous-sessions-is-not-recommended/

Have you tried these steps to try to resolve the error?

If so, maybe try creating a new user Account in Windows with full administrative rights and see if you have the same problem logged in to that Account?

If none of that works, you'd be better off contacting the company's Support folks directly, rather than posting here on the user forum, although you can always update the thread once you get it fixed to maybe help someone else with the same problem down the road.

  7. Build it basically like a Clerestory (discussed in this article), but you won't have to worry about the differing ceiling heights and define the walls for creating side by side gable roofs instead of shed roofs.

    https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00492/building-a-clerestory-roof.html

Once you get the roof built right, you will turn off Auto Rebuild Roofs in the Build Roof dialog and be able to delete the extra unneeded walls.
