Heron4091
I am trying to replicate a 2-car garage with upstairs apartment as shown in the first photo attached. The second image attachment is the glass house version of what I have created thus far in Home Designer Pro 2024 running on Windows 10 64-bit. I'm currently stuck on how to eliminate the overhanging roof edge in front of the shed dormer so my windows can extend below (like the photo version.) I have tried breaking the roof edge in front of the dormer and pulling it back, but that causes the dormer to blow up. I have watched all the pertinent training videos and help topics on roofs and dormers that I can find but none seem to address how to fix this. I'm sure it is an easy fix but I'm a newbie and I'm stuck, so I would be most grateful for any wisdom. I have also attached my plan. Thank you! Jo_Ann
Search the knowledge base for manual dormer.
Rookie65
Try breaking the roof edge and pulling it to the sides of the dormer
Heron4091
Thank you all for the suggestions. Though I had already reviewed many of the videos and tutorials addressing the subject of manual dormers, it turns out what I really needed was instruction on creating a manual WALL dormer. Here's a link to the corresponding article in case anyone else comes searching for the same information: Creating a Manual Wall Dormer (Also my happily amended plan image.) Heron4091
And you are right, Solver, much still to learn. I've been working with this program for just a few weeks and feel like I'm just scratching the surface!
