Soft without molding

Hi everyone,

 

How do I get a sofit NOT to take on the room molding ( in my case its the base molding ) ?

You can either use a cube from shapes or paint the molding invisible (CoreCatalog -> Materials -> Misc -> Opening (No Material))

If i try and paint the mold then all the molds in the same room become invisible (using the component option).

 

Trying to make a custom rail to a staircase.

why not use the Railing Tool and change things there , instead of making your own?  I can't tell from pic what you are trying to do sorry

 

try a Slab , not a soffit if you are using soffits , soffits will take room moldings if they touch room moldings I think.

custom railing for staircase and that was the first object i made.

 

How can i make the railing lean upwards to the next floor?

I am not sure you can in HD Software , except with Sloped soffits , as you cannot manipulate/rotate objects in elevation.

 

would need to provide more info and perhaps the plan  , you may have no choice but sloped soffits if you want to angle it and allpy a molding to the edge so it looks like a traditional handrail , but then again the Railing tool can do that...

In HD 2016 you now have the option of sofits " not taking on room molding ", just check the box :)
