Posts not acting as a framing member?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am a new user and so far really enjoy the Home Designer Pro toolsets. One quirk I found is that Posts seem to be excluded from framing members during the "rebuild" process. I am able to place posts, and beams on top of the posts. Then when I rebuild walls or floors, several new framing members cut right through the posts as though they were never there. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a bug in the program? Any tips? Thanks so much!

*** I see you mentioned Pro ***

Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

Not a bug, and you are not doing anything wrong, it's just how the program works.

Manual framing additions/adjustments need to happen at the end of the process.

Great Thanks Mr. Solver.

I was going nuts trying to make posts parametric to the floor/ceiling rebuilds.

Have a great day.
