General Dimension and Room Label Dimension

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a question with regards to general dimensioning in relation to to Room Label dimensions.

I have a bathroom sized  5'-0" x 8'-0" (wall structure to wall structure). The dimensions are 5'-0"x8'-0" however the Room label is 1" off, so it is 4'-11" x 7'-11". It seems to measure finish surface to finish surface instead of wall to wall structure. Is there a way to change the room label dimension to reflect that of Wall to Wall structure?

See attached image for reference.

Thank you:)

Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

Your visible dimensions are measuring to "Framing Surfaces" and the auto dimension display is pre-programmed to display to finished surfaces. Where the Dimension points of a dimension string determine the display. I commonly turn off that Room Label Display for that reason (I cannot control how it displays dimensions, dimension strings, I CAN control).
