Windows and doors with brick veneer

Recommended Posts

Home Designer Pro 2020. In the attached screenshot I have inserted a wide single awning window and two narrow double awning windows, but the symbols are different. The former has attached only to the framing while the latter have attached to the entire wall. The latter is what I want. I tried changing the insert depth in Window Specification/Sash but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

I see you said Pro ...

Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

You are seeing a dimension line.

Select the far left dimension as shown. Note the circled spot where that dimension has located a corner far down the side. Select that diamond and drag it down to the corner pointed to by the arrow.

Not sure why it's doing that. I'd send the plan in for Chief to look at.

SOLVED. In my Wall Type Definition I just needed to move the House Wrap layer from the Exterior Layers group down to the Main Layers group. This causes the window and door symbols to attach across the air gap but sit inside the brick veneer. The dimension line problem was easily fixed by selecting the dimension leader line, clicking on the grey box, and moving it to the correct position (the corner of the wall).
