Problem using auto build roof

Recommended Posts

In Home Designer Pro 2020 I'm adding an attached garage to an existing house and having problems with the roof. Both the existing house and the new garage have gable roofs. The garage floor elevation is below the floor of the existing house. When I auto build the roof, one plane of the garage roof adjacent to existing house is extending up to meet the peak of the house rather than the peak of the garage roof. I'm not sure what is causing this and have spent way too much time trying to solve it. I have searched the on line help and watched some webinars and videos but cannot get by this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Auto roofs may not always work.

With Pro, you have manual roof tools. Suggest using them to solve your issue,

Thanks...guess I need to get up to speed on that subject now. I was hoping it was a simple mistake I was overlooking.:(

Have you considered this? It stays true to the original house, and gives you a few more sq ft in the garage.

Wow...I didn't even think of that option! It does stay true to the house and will now be considered. I'm still going to try and resolve the other so I can look at them both side by side.

Thank you.

Can anyone help with a roof truss problem? When I look at a framing perspective the roof is being constructed using a ridge beam, rafters, etc. I would like the perspective to display engineered trusses with 1"x 3" strapping @16" O.C. on the underside to support drywall.
