Window Awning

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to create and awning over a window?  The attached drawing illustrates what I want to accomplish.  I've spent a considerable amount of time working with roof planes in an attempt to make this work.  There doesn't seem to be a way to associate a roof plane to the side of a wall.

Thanks for your help.

Please post images directly -- no need to make a PDF of an image.

And ...

Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding this info to your signature (see mine for an example) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

I'm guessing you are using Pro. Draw a roof plane wherever you want, dragging it past the wall so the program knows which way is up. Then select the top edge and pull it back to the outside of the wall.

Thank you.  I learned how to control the location of the roof with roof baseline.  Understanding the baseline was the key for me.
