  1. Thanks all. Yep, I tried with the wall settings but to no avail. In the end I just placed a sloped sofit to create the same look.
  2. umm not quite. yet. While the method worked I only want the wall on the right to have this attribute. The Wall with the glass door ( top floor ) should remain at full height. Is that understandable? See the photo attached. This is what I'm after.
  3. Bloody hell ! Easy when you know how Thanks a ton Jo_ann and Mick. Im not too interested in the truss work as Its only for interior design purposes and not construction but I have to get the room looking like the real thing. Many many thanks again.
  4. Hi, I did this last October on a project and now for the life of me can't remember how I did it and I have already wasted too much time today trying to figure it out. I have attached the cross elevation that I'm trying to recreate ( with specific regards to the second floor wall and ceiling heights ) and secondly of where I stand at the moment. How do I get mine to look like the Architects? And don't worry, I don't understand Polish either Your advise will be greatly appreciated as always. Elevation.pdf
  5. use ' Adjust material definition ' tool and under ' Texture " play with the X and Y values ( scale ) until you are happy with the look.
  6. Thanks Mick, I was hoping there was just a trick to it that I was missing ( like windows ). Guess not.
  7. If I wanted to fill the space above the base cabinet shelves ( as in the attachment ) with built in cabinets that follow the line of the ceiling, how do I go about that?
  8. 2.5 Importing and Exporting .SKP files can now be imported in the Mac version of the software. Whoo hoo !
  9. nevermind, got it can't find where to delete post though :/
  10. Hi all, I am pretty sure I have watched a training video covering the importing of an existing plan and then tracing over it to create the plan in the HD software. I have watched countless training videos and don't seem to be able to find it again. Was it perhaps a CA function only? Thanks W
  11. Im using a macbook air for the field and it works just fine. Even better with HD Pro 2016 as they have tweaked the 3D performance considerably
  12. Well I will step up in the meantime, just checking for bugs at the moment but sadly I will still have to shell out for the ray tracing capabilities of X7 in the future W.
  13. incidentally, I have just downloaded HD pro 2016 and running it side by side on the same machine the improvement in speed ( regarding working in 3D ) is much faster
  14. Hi, Yes, I am running HD Pro on both my iMac and my less powerful macbook air without any issues to report except the importing of .skp files which hopefully will be sorted out in the near future by the Google guru's. Im looking to upgrade to CA Interiors because I need more professional renderings for my design business but Pro has served me well. It was a bit of a learning curve for me ( and still is ) but I never had any previous experience with this kind of software before like you do. Kbird 1 answered all you other questions
  15. Oh wow, just found this now. Looks great, thanks Mick !
  16. Mick, sorry correction. I am intending to upgrade to CA Interiors and for that the upgrade cost is $1500. I would be greatly appreciated if you do let me know about such a license, I would definitely be interested. W
  17. Cool, thanks Mick. Im seriously considering the upgrade.
  18. I have been searching for a similar solution but unfortunately "the quality that the $1,000 programs produce " is exactly why they cost a $1000, or more in the case of CA. I am currently playing around with the CA X6 trial version for this reason only and after a lot of trial and error I'm beginning to seriously consider the $1500 upgrade cost from HD Pro. Check out the difference in quality of the regular 'render' HD gives you to what CA can produce. And this is one of my first attempts ! can't wait to master it like the great Jintu over on the CA Facebook group.
  19. Hi Mick, Yep, read you loud and clear. I just don't have the time nor the patience to fanny about with importing multiple files etc. I sent off an email to tech support and they came back with "Thank you for contacting us regarding importing .skp files into the Mac version. Please accept our apologies for the frustration: unfortunately, we have been unable to do this because Trimble, the owner of Sketchup, has not released 64-bit versions of the files that we would need to make this possible. I spoke with one of our software engineers, and he thought they might have very recently, but it would have been much to recent for us to incorporate into our own software. Regardless, I will be glad to submit a feature request to our Software Development team to add this functionality as soon as possible." So it looks like its only a matter of time Thanks as always for the advice.
  20. I have been looking and can't really find any converters. Crazy. Yep, Mac (or HD on Mac ) does not support .skp. I can download the files and view them in sketchup no problem. Thanks for the tip again Mick, I will send a report to Tech support and it is an issue which I believe should be addressed since the PC versions of HD ( I assume ) have no problems importing these files. And yes I tried importing the 'model' folder without success. In the mean time I will have to be even more creative. Thanks again.
  21. They have hundreds of different furnishings and that one was one of the 'easiest' so to speak. The majority of them have even less exporting options and don't even include .dae as an option. Only .skp and .kmz. So I guess Im better off looking for a .skp to .3ds converter ? I have been having very little luck with google All this file conversion stuff is way out of my area of expertise so Im basically shooting in the dark here. I suspect contacting the company will be of little use as I doubt they will accommodate the ONE guy in Poland running HD
  22. Thanks again Mick I followed your instructions and hit another brick wall. From what I can tell only the full version ( pro ) of sketchup can export as a .3ds and I don't have this.( my only options were .dae or .kmz ) I also googled for some converter and found one but it too could not convert the file even though it stated it could. I will need to do quite a lot of these conversions so Im going to need to find a solution pretty quickly. Any paid reliable conversion apps out there to try? Any advice is most welcome as always
  23. Thank you both very much for the advice. Mick, the table works perfectly in my plan, thank you for the effort. I have Sketchup 14 but I find it really challenging to learn 2 of these complicated programs at the same time Bloody hell, I have still so much to learn....... W
  24. Mick, Thanks for your response again. One day when I'm able I will be paying the favor back here on this forum As I can't see a way to directly post the link, if you search 3d warehouse for: KARE 78993 Table Pure Nature 195x100cm 5cm (Tisch Pure Nature 195x100cm), you will find it Apparently I can't attach the .dae file here as I get "Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file"
  25. Me again So Im now at the point where I'm starting to furnish my interior. However some of the furnishings are supplied by a specific company and they have most of their products on 3D warehouse ( Kare design, if it helps at all ). Being a little technically challenged I messed about and managed to import a dae version of the table I needed. Unfortunately my surprise and overwhelming joy of achieving this was short lived as I realized that it did not import any materials or textures, it only gave me a solid grey shape of the table. In this case it was no big deal as HD had a suitable wood to 'paint' it with but for other objects this will not be an option. What have I done wrong? W
