  1. Hi and thanks for the responses. Unfortunately nothing worked. Since I don't have the luxury of time, sending the plans off and waiting for a useful response from tech support wasn't an option for me. I uninstalled the program, reinstalled and started over. Everything is working fine. For the moment. W
  2. and when I apply the EXACT same procedure to my "real"plan the program places the color UNDERNEATH the existing layer of paint Its doing this to every wall I try to paint so it seems to be a plan wide problem or setting I got wrong
  3. Hi David and thanks for your response, however Im still in the dark. I have used the wall specification box to change the color and as I have stated nothing happens except for the results that I have indicated and explained above. I have created a new "test house" to test my graphics card and coloring "skills" and it works quite well as you can see by the attachment. I just can't get it to work on my existing project so it must mean that something is wrong with the plan somehow and I have no idea what
  4. update. When I apply a new material to the wall I get this sheen effect in 3D. I give up

    Painting a wall

Hi, Im starting to regret buying HD. Now on only my second design project using this software I want to pull my hair out. Why am I having such difficulty in trying to simply paint a wall? I need to paint several walls different colors within the same space. I have learnt from my first project to avoid the material painter ( eye dropper ), which I have done. I have been attempting to use the wall specification dialogue to change each wall to no avail. I can change it in the preview but this does nothing in 3D view, except that you can notice a thin layer of the color ( grey-charcol ) under the existing layer of paint ( see attached pic ). I can select " no room definition " and then the color appears as intended but then the bloody molding disappears! I do not have the time nor patience to sit and read through the user manual hoping against all odds to find a solution for my particular problem ( I have searched the forum for this topic and drew a blank ). Im trying to paint a wall not reengineer the space shuttle, aaaaarg! Some wise soul pls guide me through this mess W
  6. Hi everyone, How do I get a sofit NOT to take on the room molding ( in my case its the base molding ) ? Thank you W
  7. Thank you. Thank you , Thank you all ! Easy when you know how
  8. Jo_Ann, thats what i have been tinkering with but I just end up with guitar shapes!
  9. Hi all, I have been quiet for a while as things have been going well, until now that is. Im trying to create a 3/4 circular counter top for a kitchen counter that attaches to a corner wall. I have been trying to figure the out on my own but its just wasting too much time. Any ideas? See attachment for the shape I'm after. Thanks W
  10. Well there you go, told you I would feel like an idiot Thank you for the quick responses.
  11. HI, Im sure Im going to feel like an idiot again as its probably simple to do but I would like to copy a plan so that I can have a second one to play around with without affecting the original. I have tried selecting and copy/paste to a new file but this does not work. Anyone? Thanks
  12. In your Archives there is an automatic back up file of the plan Happened to me too recently.
  13. Ok thanks, Yeah I don't think HD will show it very well in render views but more importantly I was looking for it to show clearly and precisely in plan views?
  14. Hi all, Im looking to create something similar to the attachment, however I can't seem to find anything in the library that would do. I also have the X6 demo installed and it too didn't have what I'm looking for. With this kind of lighting so prevalent these days Im sure I must be over looking something? Maybe with all you creative geniuses out there there may be some way to fake it? Thanks again, W
  15. Thanks Kat, Just tried that too. Nothing resembling a photo appeared. Guess I'm just expecting too much then. Oh well....
  16. Hi Mick, Thanks again for the input. I have read through the help and played with my settings, even maxing them out with little improvement. I also downloaded Chief Interiors trial version to compare and I get no ' photo realistic ' effects what so ever. In fact there is almost nothing in CA Interiors that will convince me to upgrade. Am I missing something here?
  17. Hello all, I have been using HD pro quite intensively now or the last month or so and now I'm nearing the end of my project. I have been using 'normal view' when designing the interiors but now I would like to clean up the images for a smoother more realistic look. However when I choose the final view setting there is absolutely zero difference ! when I choose final view with shadows, yes, I get shadows but nothing else. What am I doing wrong? W
  18. Thank you kind people of Forum world ! My walls are back and I can continue to search for the next lesson
  19. Hi, Well, exactly, the tile on the door is one issue. The fact that i can't generate vector views for the shower backsplash ( well at least not above 1060mm ) and in doll house view it only shows half of all the walls. To answer you other question, yes, the home exists in an unfinished state. Im working off plan and don't have photos of that particular room.If it will help I think I may have of the adjoining bathroom( similar structure ) thanks for the quick response Oh and pls remember, this is only a test structure to see if it would work but the dimensions are what are required. In reality the rooms are attached to the rest of the house
  20. and it was going so well until the time came to actually start with the interior of this particular space. After following your instructions I was left with the structure that I wanted ( see attachment, this was only a test btw ), However once the interior design started it all fell apart rather quickly with me not being able to place a sofit like normal. Then the biggest problem appeared when I tried to create a custom back splash on the lower half of the walls and full height in the shower area. Vector view ( see attachment ) also only shows the lower half of the wall. It seems the program only recognizes the lower half because as per instructions this wall is 1060mm and thus set as my ceiling height to achieve the room I wanted. If I stretch the BS higher than 1060mm then, well see the camera view of the wall in question. What have I not set correctly??
  21. Thanks again guys, David, I have only one such 3D symbol in my library at the moment but thanks for the advice which I'm sure will be helpful in the future and something I will bear in mind when acquiring such symbols again. Mick, thanks for the link as it makes perfect sense. The problem started right about the time the upgrade became available and since I haven't yet upgraded the outdated video driver seems to be the most likely cause as I see it. As soon as I receive my external HDD hopefully in the next day or 2 I will backup and update, I can't run the risk of losing the entire design now ! W

    HD pro 2015 lag

Hi again, I have just started experiencing lag when viewing 3D camera views and doll house view is lagging so badly that I don't even use it anymore. I thought that I bought a rather capable computer not more than 4 weeks ago and this issue has started rather suddenly. I have not changed any default settings with regards to views and renderings and since I'm rather technologically challenged Im not sure what to fiddle with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated again. W
