Thanks guys

Thanks Mick but I've tried searching for strange and unusual alternative names. It just seems to me that it should be a very common item and not so hard to find!

Hi Mark, I'm running a 27' iMac i5 3,4ghz with only 8GB ram but with 2 GB of video memory and Mavericks, fortunately not had any issues yet. Good luck in finding a solution. W

Thanks Mick, will try it out.

David, thank you for your step by step instructions. I sense that you realize that you are dealing with an absolute technologically incompetent muppet. I salute you Sir because you are absolutely correct Nevertheless, I will soldier on and conquer this demon in time with your guidance ! Thanks again W

I have been looking for a PDF converter for OS X so that I can send plans/elevations and renderings to clients. Last night I tried a free one off the app store but it did not support the files in HD pro, so my question is to other OS users, what do you recommend?

I have just switched from PC to iMac about 2 weeks ago and have not encountered any such issue yet. Maybe the macbook can't handle the graphics as it has no dedicated video card? This was one one the reasons I chose the iMac but Im definitely no IT expert.

Thanks Mick, I will look into that option.

Before I begin, I have searched the forum, rather unsuccessfully for the answer to my question. Granted, I have placed myself under a ridiculous amount of time pressure to learn a new operating system while also trying to figure out HD pro and trying to deliver a professional product to my clients I tried to send attachments of my plan layout and elevations to my clients for their input but of course they are unable to open these attachments. I then exported the files and sent them as jpg images but this looks rather tacky and unprofessional. is there a better way? Once again, thank you all for your incredible amount of patience and help regarding my requests recently. It is sincerely appreciated. W

Thanks again for the much needed info. I'm back on track but Mick, that's the most terrifying scenario regarding hard drive failure. I have just invested in a 27' imac for this very purpose. Only 2 weeks old ! Surely not hard drive failure? Will send the link to tech support and see what they say.......

Exactly ! I have calmed down to a panic now Thanks for the speedy response. I had visions of pulling an all nighter again trying to get the plans to the client by tomorrow. So the original file location contains zero data but searching through the archive folder I discovered an auto_sav_bak version of the file which was 99% up to date Thank you !!

Hi, me again. This time I attempted to close the program and was met with this message ( attached ) I can't seem to find ANY trace of the plan I was working on for the last 2 weeks ! Only the name of the file exists. Tried restarting and all the basic moves but nothing. Think Im gonna cry and no, no back up was made yet.

I'm about to pull my hair out ! an hour ago I created a bathroom with a large walk in glass shower. Lovely. Then I proceeded to make some other changes e.g., built a cabinet, placed a toilet, created some backsplashes ( as shown in a youtube video ) and painted the walls. During this procedure I must have changed a setting because no matter what I try the glass shower keeps on taking the color of the walls where it didn't before. What did I change that caused this issue? I even deleted the shower and started again, no luck. many thanks in advance

Hello again, Im sure its dead easy but I just can't seem to find it at the moment. I need to build a room where one wall is half the height than its opposite. This i can do, however as soon as i draw the perpendicular walls, they don't join the 2 walls creating a slope. Again I need this room for interior design purposes so it does not need to be structurally correct. Pls someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks again, problem solved

Thank you again for the response and help, it is much appreciated. This was indeed the problem yet I don't understand why this is the case, never the less as one problem was solved another cropped up so I decided to scrap the plan and start again from scratch. So I was trying to reproduce the house so that I can finally start with the interior design but got no further than the next problem( screen shot attached )! Unfortunately when I searched for online help I was met with this message " we currently do not have any online help available for this problem ", just my luck :/ So once again I come begging for some forum wisdom. Please HELP !

Ok, I understand what Im reading but am unable apply this to the design As soon as i have corrected one problem another arises. For now the roof in the sky has been resolved ( thanks all for the input ) but now I have a sky view when viewing my staircase from below even though there is a floor above? ( I suspect it is related to the changes `i made to fix the roof ) Im stumped again. All I'm trying to do is recreate the house as close as possible so that I can focus on my real job, which is to design the interior. The fact that the structure is technically correct is of secondary importance, it just needs to look like the real thing. I watched the training video on how to build staircases and it seems pretty straightforward and my plan seems to be ok up to the point when the stair well is created. Thats when it all goes pear shaped.
