  1. I am wondering if anyone is having an issue with mirror reflection in HDP 2025 Physical Based mode. The first two top images show no reflection of the sphere in the mirror partition. Both are PB renderings. The bottom image in Standard mode shows the mirror reflection. I currently have HDP 2024 and do not have this issue in PB. What could be the issue. Thanks
  2. Renerabbit you are right. I think I spoke too soon. Downloaded the 2025 trial and there are some good features as well as additions in the Rendering Technique Options. Opened a design from 2024 and the PB rendering looks pretty good. I use the software primarily to create photographic images of house designs to show potential customers realistic renderings of what their house would look like prior to being built, hence the desire for realistic glass effects. I guess I will work around the glass issue.
  3. Have to agree, this seems rather like an update as opposed to a upgrade. I am using 2024 at the moment and can basically do without the additional features of 2025. One thing I would really like to see is the ability to render realistic glass reflections and refraction effects. I know this is possible with CA Premier, I don't see why this one feature cannot be included in the HDP software. There is such a huge increase in price between HDP and CA Premier. I made a suggestion to CA to make available plug-ins that can be purchased separately that would allow for additional effects for those that want them, or offer an upscale version - Home Designer Pro MAX. Just a realistic looking glass would be a huge improvement (for me anyway)
  4. Solver I was about to ask the same thing. If there is a means to go manual dimensions, I would love to know.
  5. I have looked at every possible way to manually add dimensions. This was possible with HDP 2021. Why this option was removed in HDP 2024 is beyond me, would really like to know the reasoning behind that decision. There are times I just want to display a single dimension. Having every possible dimension displayed amounts to unnecessary clutter in the plan.
  6. I am using HD Pro 2023. I realize after much experimenting that to achieve the realistic appearance of glass in any recent version of HD Pro, is impossible.

There is no way to render a crystal clear glass texture that includes reflection and refraction attributes. I have managed to generate some realistic photo like renderings of designs using mainly lighting methods, but the glass effects remain out of reach.

I believe this is possible in Chief Architect versions of the software. Obviously that comes at a price.

So...I am wondering if realistic glass will make it into a future version of HD Pro, or if possible we could purchase plug-ins or add on modules that can be purchased separately to enhance the ability of HD Pro versions.

There is such a difference in price between HD Pro and CA, can there not be something in between like a Home Designer Pro Max that could allow for plug-ins.

    Thanks

      Hi Savuti!

We don't currently offer a module upgrade like this for Home Designer Pro. I'll bring this up with the team for consideration.

We do offer a monthly rental of Chief Architect, this would allow you to make a small investment and gain access to the full suite of features available there.

You can also download a Trial Version of Chief Architect and try out the rendering features that are available for free.

If you would like more information about accessing these products our sales team would be happy to share more details!

  7. I have come up with this so far, working with Material Definition, lighting, material colour, Brightness, Transparency, Emissive setting. The wine glasses still appear to be more realistic though. I will keep trying to achieve that appearance.
  8. Do you mind telling me how you achieved the natural looking wine glasses with transparency and light reflection in the image on the right as opposed to the opaque wine glasses in the image on the left. I am using HDPro 2021.
  9. I found the Palm trees I was looking for on the Sketchup site. Free download as an .skp file which can be imported and saved to HDP.
  10. I see that other users of Home Designer software also have this issue with not being able to download certain catalogs. I don't see the logic in being permitted to download some and not others even though I am willing to purchase them. For some reason I can purchase a catalog with a Redwood but not a Tropical Palm tree. I am currently using Home Designer Pro 2021. I know the Company does not monitor these forums, although I think they would become aware of a lot if they did.
