NewbieTed
I am creating drawings for a new home build. I am using HD Pro 2025. I am aware that there is only one layer for Dimensions. In other CAD apps, I would use layers to put dimensions for specific sheet views using same geometry. This would allow me to have one plan view with many, many dimensions on separate layers and display them on the correct layout sheet. It is my understanding that is not possible with HD Pro. Please confirm I understand that correctly. If not, please straighten me out :). If there is a work around, please help and or point me in the correct direction. To state it again, I need a way to have multiple layout sheets of the same plan view with different dimension on the geometry in the plan view. For example, I would like detail dimensions for the Kitchen room to send to the cabinet designer without displaying them on the overall floor plan. thanks in advance, Ted
Rookie65
Have you thought it through to come up with an idea yourself?? How about copying the plan to another plan called "Kitchen", and then delete the other dimensions on the plan and just dimension manually what you need? Then you can send that page(s) to the layout sheet. Make as many copies as you need for whatever information you want to convey in each plan. They can all be sent to the same layout page, so just title them correctly in the PDF's. Another bonus is you can edit the layout field to the size that has just the kitchen. Might be able to put all of the kitchen info on one sheet for simplicity?!
NewbieTed
Keith, Thanks for the reply. Interesting response. In the approach your mention, that would create multiple .plan files of the same geometry (Walls, foundation, etc). What happens when the design changes and geometry moves, like a wall. You would have to make that change in all of the .plan file to make sure there is no mistakes in future. I dont see that as a viable solution. I was hoping there is a learned technique that experienced HD professionals use that facilitates making multiple stored views of the "plan" view. Quite like making a section view. If you have a section view, you can generate dimensions on it that dont show up in any other view. Then you can save the active camera (which is really the view name) and place that on a layout. To my knowledge there can be only one "plan" view of the first floor. So I guess my question could be "Can you make multiple stored cameras of the "floor plan" view?" Rookie65
The plan view is your .plan file. You can make as many copies of it as you need. If you think you'll still be moving walls, then don't copy it yet. If your focus in this case is just the kitchen, wait until you know you're done playing with walls. If it's just one room, then you're talking about 1 copy. Not a big deal if you have to change a wall on 2 plans. Use transform/replicate to copy from one and paste-hold position to the other plan
R2M3-B
Hello, I am doing a Layout for a project on HD Pro 2025. When I watched the layout tutorial, it showed that it automatically has five pages, plus the template, page zero, where all the pages are number automatically from zero to five and they all have the informations related to the template page 0. But, when I clicked on Files for a new layout plan, it showed me only page one with the basic information and page zero, two to five are blank, without nothing in them. What caused that? I worked on it by adding the basic infos concerning my plans and design on page zero to make the template that automatically goes to all other, that I get, but the pages numbers didn't change or update from zero to five, instead it stays zero in all the pages. What caused that and how to make it change has it shown on the tutorial from zero to five? Also, how to add related info on each page from the template, page zero without the information going over all the pages but only to the one needed? Or do you have another way to do that? Secondly, on 3D, when looking at the windows, the base windows keep showing the wall/framing instead of the windows base itself. What causes that and how to fix it, for not showing the wall/framing anymore but the entire windows content? Thirdly, I work on a ceiling using the shelf ceiling or uncheck the flat ceiling to make it adjust to the roof line, the crown molding that was there when the ceiling was flat stay at the same level and did not change to go up like the ceiling, giving me a style I do not wanted, regardless it seems fine. How to make the crown molding go up to the ceiling in that aspect? That is all for now, thank you for looking at them and sending me some answers. Rookie65
@R2M3-B You should start your own thread with your question and not hijack someone else's. Especially where your issue is unrelated to what the original poster was inquiring about. It is also helpful if you complete your signature so that people will always know what version and year of the program you are using without having to search for it each time. Once you re-post, you can then delete this comment and you may get more help that way. The "help" tab and reference guide are also good places to start when looking for information, as well as forum searches.
R2M3-B
@Rookie65 I see that you are very rude by answering someone like that, even when reading your answer to the others. It is unfortunate. If you took time to read the message properly if you were able too, you could see that from the beginning I mentioned what type of program I am using and the year. If you are a hijacker, that does not mean everyone else is. I typed the title "Layout" for the reason I was looking for help in the forum, it is the only one that pops up as answer, it is why I asked the questions for my concerns. The elementary things to do before behaving like you did, if to ask proper question to make sure if what you think you read, you understand it correctly before acting/reacting. So, based on that, you showed me that you won't be able to give me a proper answer, I won't bother to waste my time more than that.
Rookie65
You posted your questions on an original question that was about wanting to have separate dimensioned areas for its own layout. Your response had nothing to do with dimensions. It was about the number of pages, ceilings, and framing, etc. Not once did you mention a question on dimensions. So in essence, you took the subject away from the original question, which is considered "hijacking" a thread. Yes, you mentioned your program, yet there is also a place in your account where you can create your signature so it will show with every post that you make. That way, you don't have to type it in with each post you make. I read your entry correctly and saw that it was a different subject than the original query, so I suggested you should have started your own query so answers would have been in direct response to your issues, not someone else's.
