jdsglobal
So, I'm new to Home Designer (Pro 2024). I'm working on my bathroom remodel and I'm looking to create an extremely common bathroom feature: a partial height wall that can be used as a shelf and place to change tile types. A super simple 3-foot high section of wall that is butted up against the full height wall (see attached example). I've tried using the half wall feature but it really does create a half wall, it creates a railing that somehow builds a wall into the railing. No matter what I tried, no matter what guidance I get from the knowledge database, I end up with a railing on top or it reverts to a full height wall. I am looking for any guidance that I can get to create this super simple construction. Thanks!
jdsglobal
Hi Eric, What you've shown is exactly what I want to do! Unfortunately, I keep getting this solids railing on top of the half wall. I read one bit of feedback in the forum that suggested you simply need to uncheck the Specify Railing box but when I do that I get a full height wall. I found some guidance for creating a parapet wall that suggested that you could make the width of the solid railing the same as the wall and reduce height to whatever you want for a top cap on the wall. But I still get a wooden railing of the same width and depth but it raises it off the top of the wall by the height I nominated (see the attached image). I would have attached my plan file as you recommended but it exceeds the max file size of 14MB. Thanks!
Rookie65
Try going to the materials tab for the wall and change the wall cap to drywall. Or make the half wall from a soffit
