Proper way to make an elevated roof plan?

I'm trying to draw a gable roof with an elevated section within the plane.

 

I can draw the roof planes easy enough but I don't think this is the correct way to do this as creating the little walls that would connect the elevated roof to the lower section seems difficult.

 

Can anyone tell me the correct way to do this?

Try going to the attic and add an exterior wall over where the roofs intersect. You'll want to add the side overhang over that wall just where the taller roof covers it.
