If there is a hall there, draw in a hall. Even when working on a single room (typically a kitchen), I always place it within a larger room. Drawing 4 exterior walls, then drawing a single room within. And I build a foundation and roof -- don't need to be accurate, but the program seems to work better with a more complete model.
