jwb_59
I have Home Designer Architectural 2016. I am trying to draw an attached carport coming off an addition. The carport will be supported by 8x8 post with beams sitting on top of the post. Is there a way to design this correctly? I first created the post and beams using the block in the shapes category of the library. But in doing this, I could not get the roof to extend out over the structure. The roof will be an extension of the house roof that I am tying into. I then created walls and set them off the floor the correct distance which gave me the overall look that I want but when you break everything down it shows studded walls instead of beams. Is there a proper way to create the carport other than the image in the library?
solver
A carport is just like a porch. The software needs a room to build a roof over. Use a Room Divider to outline the area of the carport, making sure you create a room. Set the room as a Porch and you will get a 4" concrete slab and roof. Post the plan file for more help. Make sure it's closed in Home Designer before posting.
